Bronte Schofield has revealed that Married at First Sight Australia does not support contestants during or after they leave the marriage experiment.

In the past, participants have called out MAFS producers for their lack of “mental support”, with 2023 star Tayla Winter slamming the wellness team for “manipulating” her.

During her AFTERMAFS episode of the So Dramatic! EXTRA podcast, Bronte revealed some of the unethical antics that went on behind-the-scenes, explaining that the psychologists reported private conversations back to the producers.

“During filming, I was distraught,” the Lolé Swim co-founder said. “I was speaking to the psychiatrist and venting, not realising at the time that everything I was saying was going back to the producers. I thought I was in a safe space.”

The 2023 bride explained that she’d repeatedly called her on-screen hubby Harrison Boon a “narcissist” during her private conversations with her psychiatrist.

However, Bronte realised these conversations were being shared when one of the show’s executives later spoke to her, trying to give her tips about “how to get on top of a narcissist”. Yikes.

“There was no actual advice, no structure to help me get through what I was feeling. They would just put you on the phone [with the psychiatrist] to say: ‘Yep, we’ve had a phone call with Bronte today; we’ve done our part’.”

Bronte Schofield shares advice on how to make it as an influencer after Married at First Sight

Bronte then gave some advice on how to become an influencer post-show after reports circulated that the MAFS 2024 cast weren’t likely to become successful full-time influencers.

According to Bronte, people experience more success as soon as they get their accounts back from production, and you can make it on social media no matter how long you were on the show or how many followers you have.

“You actually get more followers when you get your account back because your engagement is high and you’re in the algorithm, so you’re going to grow no matter what,” she explained.

“But if you want to monetize off of the attention and the algorithm, you need to be posting two to three times a day… It’s a full-time job.

She also spilled that people will see success on social media despite their on-screen portrayal.

“Ignore what people say. Their words mean jack sh*t. They’re not going to change any brands’ minds about you. Focus on yourself and know who you are. And your followers will see that. You can’t hide behind an edit forever.”

MAFS’ Bronte Schofield explains how set-up paparazzi photos work

Bronte then explained exactly how set-up paparazzi shoots work, explaining that the paps do all the work.

“They’ll message you and ask: ‘Where are you going to be this weekend?’ or ‘What are you doing tonight?’ and they’ll tee it up with you.”

However, these photos can cause the rumour mill to work overtime when photos circulate that are completely out of context, like the snap of Timothy Smith and Natalie Parham holding hands.

Bronte dished that the paparazzi will take photos like this to spin storylines without the cast’s consent, even though they know the portrayals they’re putting out there aren’t true. Eep!

She also shared that the cast will occasionally get paid for these staged shoots. And the more you know!
