Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Ollie Skelton has shared some hilarious behind-the-scenes moments from his time on the show and we’ve been laughing all day.
During a chat with Yahoo! Lifestyle on June 23, the former groom spilled the tea on what went down when the cameras weren’t rolling.
One of the voice-over artist’s funniest BTS anecdotes occurred during his “wedding” with his on-screen wife-turned-IRL girlfriend, Tahnee Cook.
Whilst it seemed like it was love at first sight for the couple, it was actually more like love is blind — literally!
“Tahnee can’t see for sh*t, she’s got really bad vision. [So during the wedding], she couldn’t see what the hell I looked like, she had no idea,” he laughed. LOL!
Ollie Skelton says the dates on Married at First Sight weren’t as romantic as they seemed
Ollie also admitted that some of his dates with the PR manager weren’t as romantic as they seemed on TV.
You may remember that ADORABLE moment when Ollie surprised the 27-year-old by turning their apartment into a beach to recreate their honeymoon in Fiji.
Although it looked like he put in a tonne of effort, the podcast host confessed that it wasn’t as thought out as it seemed.
In fact, he revealed that he had one hour to purchase all the supplies with his own dosh, and he even enlisted the help of one of his friends who was visiting from Perth at the time.
“We went to the $2 store and we were just grabbing all this sh*t.
“Then I was like, ‘Okay, we’ve got time for one beer’, so we went to the pub, we had one beer, and I dragged all the [decorations] in,” he laughed.
Similarly, the Hometown date at the end of the show wasn’t as adorable IRL as it looked on-screen.
Ollie admitted that he intentionally “talked dribble” that entire date because he didn’t want to eat the cold KFC in front of him.
“We had KFC and the date took ages to set up, so the food was so cold. Fast food, you can’t eat it when it’s cold. It’s not food anymore, it’s another entity,” he said. And we couldn’t agree more!
Ollie admits that a co-star talked Harrison Boon into bringing THOSE screenshots to the Reunion Dinner Party
None of us have forgotten that ICONIC moment when Harrison Boon tried to expose his wife Bronte Schofield during the Reunion Dinner Party by bringing screenshots from private social media DMs.
But apparently, the walking red flag didn’t come up with this idea himself.
Ollie confessed that one of their co-stars encouraged Harrison to bring the receipts with him and we’re DYING of laughter at this epic set-up.
“I don’t know if I should say this, but it was actually the advice from a castmate who you would not expect to give that advice,” he dished.
“Somebody told him to do it and I said: ‘In what world did you think that was going to be of benefit to him bringing screenshots?
“‘In what world would we have been like, well, we were wrong about Harrison, we’ve seen the screenshots, pretty good’.” LOL!
We wonder who egged him on because they deserve a trophy!
