The Daily Mail recently reported only the crème de la crème of Married at First Sight Australia 2023 contestants had been invited to Australian Fashion Week, but turns out that’s not true at all.

ICYMI: On April 22, the tabloid said several MAFS brides had been blacklisted from the event, held later this month, to protect its reputation after last year’s disaster(s) – yes, plural!

During Australia Fashion Week in 2022, MAFSNasser Sultan reportedly stole a goodie bag that wasn’t meant for him. LOL!

Olivia Frazer reportedly pinched someone else’s front-row seat at the Bec & Bridge show.

However, So Dramatic! can reveal it’s all BS.

We did do our homework and as revealed in episode 283 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one of the brides we spoke to said the Daily Mail article “is fake news”.

“I’ve spoken to all the other brides and they’ve all said it’s not real and the Daily Mail are just making it up,” they dished.

“It’s not true. Lots of brides have been invited this year.”

They went on to insinuate the person who wrote the story just wanted “some of us to be invited so he can go get coverage so he is creating the hype to manifest it”. Sounds on-brand for the Daily Mail tbh.

What claims did Daily Mail make about the MAFS contestants going to Australian Fashion Week?

The outlet also claimed that the contestants who weren’t invited were said to be “feeling the FOMO” and had been “desperately begging to attend”.

“One unnamed cast member from this year’s season has been bombarding designers with unsolicited messages, begging for the chance to be seen in their clothes,” they claimed.

“Another has resorted to emailing one of the featured brands, pointing out the number of followers they have on Instagram.”

Which MAFS brides reportedly scored an invite to Australian Fashion Week?

MAFS brides Janelle Han, Tahnee Cook and Evelyn Ellis have reportedly all scored passes to Australian Fashion Week.

Janelle’s invitation doesn’t really come as a shock. She was already a bonafide TikTok star and makeup artist prior to her stint on MAFS.

Presumably, Tahnee’s background in fashion PR helped her make the list.

And Evelyn also made the cut, probably because she dabbles in modelling.

Sandy Jawanda has also reportedly RSVP’d to attend as has Duncan James.

But after speaking to our tea-spilling bride, it seems we’ll be seeing a few more of the MAFS cast dressing to the nines in the name of fashion. Watch this space!
