Beloved Australian film critic Margaret Pomeranz has delivered a scathing review of Married at First Sight Australia in one of her brutally honest videos.

After sitting down to watch MAFS, the 78-year-old former host of ABC’s At the Movies shared her witty opinion of the “groundbreaking social experiment in which mentally fragile halfwits marry toxic fame tarts”. Harsh, but she ain’t wrong.

“The show’s premise is simple,” she began during an appearance on The Weekly with Charlie Pickering before slamming the cast, fans, producers and pretty much everything about MAFS.

“Romantically hapless singles marry a stranger picked by experts from a dazzling array of psychopaths and D-minus duds with apparent stench disorders.

“The participants don’t disappoint, representing a smorgasbord of only the highest quality horse meat garnished with the finest of red flags.” Hello Harrison Boon!

Margaret continued ripping in MAFS as she took aim at “all the profound and intricate ways in which [participants] are wildly incompatible and their “sham marriages”.

However, she noted “it’s the experts who shine” with their emotional “performances worthy of Olivier.”

Margaret Pomeranz acknowledges MAFS popularity in her review

MAFS‘ unrivalled popularity did not escape the famed critic. Margaret acknowledged the show is undoubtedly the best rating program in Australia.

“One might argue that watching ill-suited strangers in an environment designed for their psychological destruction may seem repulsive,’ Margaret continued.

‘But there’s a compelling brutality here, and as the nation’s highest rating program, one can’t help but salute the show’s producers, stars and fans as they gallantly approach the flaming corpse of broadcast TV and elegantly urinate on its ashes.

‘May God have mercy on us all.” Hear, hear!

Fans react to Margaret Pomeranz’s MAFS review

Margaret has built a loyal legion of followers over her more than four-decade-long career in TV.

Many of them said her review of MAFS was “spot on” and she “hit the nail on the head”.

Oh, Margaret, we mere peasants are not deserving of your insights.
