Married at First Sight Australia 2022 producers have been teasing a melodramatic mass walkout for what feels like weeks now and naturally, drama-thirsty MAFS fans have been dying to know WTAF went down at that commitment ceremony.
Just when we thought MAFS 2022 couldn’t get any more intense, a trailer for the fifth commitment ceremony of the experiments’ ninth season dropped. And it. was. hectic.
The promo showed intruder Dion Giannarelli opting to remove himself from the ceremony set. A number of other cast members, including Brent Vitiello, Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding, could be seen following in hot pursuit.
“I’ve seen enough for one day,” Dion exclaimed, while Domenica said she “doesn’t want to sit here anymore either”.

Here’s What Caused the Mass Walkout at the MAFS Committment Ceremony
As reported in episode 152 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the much-anticipated walkout was a result of the ongoing cheating scandal between MAFS intruders Carolina Santos and Daniel Holmes.
A source close to the show spilled to So Dramatic! that the adulterous pair “showed up at the Commitment Ceremony and wanted to continue in the experiment together.” The source added that, “it was pretty hectic and full-on.”
Adding fuel to the fire, a recent trailer for Sunday night’s MAFS Commitment Ceremony shows Carolina and Daniel facing the (stunned) experts TOGETHER!
As expected, the other MAFS victims contestants were less than impressed with the cheaters’ antics. And, of course, sh*t hit the fan.
“The contestants are like animals in a zoo screaming at them,” the source joked. “The experts [were] left gobsmacked. Then… the ENTIRE CAST [walked] out of the Commitment Ceremony.” And TBH, it’s kind of understandable!
According to the MAFS insider, “no one likes Carolina”. The shock move followed the 34-year-old treating her hubby Dion pretty abominably throughout the entire experiment.
“Carolina had a tough time on the show but she deserved it for what she did,” they confessed. “She cheated on Dion and he was so well-liked.”
So there you have it, folks: Carolina officially chose Youfoodz-loving gym-bro Daniel over Dion, who owns a collection of FABULOUS sparkly jackets. Girl, WTF?
All Of the Drama that Preceded the Mass MAFS Commitment Ceremony Walkout
Prior to the fifth Commitment Ceremony, the MAFS cast had been dealing with a sh*tton of drama off the back of the Couple’s Retreat.
Resultingly, tensions were already high and the spicy scandal was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
In case you missed it (how could you have), here is a rundown of the beef that went down during the MAFS vaycay.
The holiday started with a tiff between fan-faves Domenica and her husband Jack Millar. Jack overheard Domenica slagging off their sex life during a gals chat and ended up telling his bride to “f*ck off”. She heeded his advice and did exactly that.
The spat was followed by the respective Girl’s and Boy’s Nights and reported in episode 157 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the boy’s night goes off without a hitch.
Apart from Al Perkins getting the party started by jumping into a nearby swamp, nothing else exciting happens. Yeh da boiz!
The Girls Night at the MAFS Couples Retreat Was Hectic AF
Now for the real drama — the girl’s night.
After former-MAFS-sweetheart Olivia Frazer revealed that she had had an orgasm “so good she blacked out”, she teamed up with Carolina to verbally bash Domenica for being “too much” and “too loud”.
The Central Coast local even went so far as to call the beauty guru “white trash”.
Domenica smashed a glass over the table before withdrawing from the situation faster than Kate Laidlaw ran away from Matt Ridley after he smacked her on the ass.
Olivia then proceeded to tell the boiz that Domenica had “glassed her” and when the Italian attempted to apologise she remarked that she “needed a Xanax” to even listen to her speak.
On top of all this, Carolina spent the entire retreat being rude AF to Dion. *Eye roll*.
So yeah, tensions were already at a boiling point prior to the Commitment Ceremony.
