Married at First Sight Australia 2022 is already hurtling towards the finish line, with the MAFS Couples Retreat signalling the halfway mark.
While it was only first introduced in 2021, the couples getaway became a quick fan favourite, showcasing cracks in the rock-solid (and unnerving) relationships we were watching unfold on our screens.
This year, the remaining contestants will be tested by living together under one roof and it is here that we’ll get to witness the infamous girls’ and boys’ nights, the “glassing” incident and some more hectic feuds that you did (and did not) see coming.
So, buckle up as we give you all the inside tea on all of the major drama that unfolds at the MAFS Couples Retreat.

The Married at First Sight Girls’ and Boys’ Nights
As reported in episode 157 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the boy’s night goes off without a hitch.
Apart from Al Perkins getting the party started by jumping into a nearby swamp, nothing else exciting happens. Yeh da boiz!
Now for the real drama — the girl’s night.
According to Ella Ding during the AFTERMAFS So Dramatic! series, the Couples Retreat gets pretty “gnarly”.
“You’ll definitely start to see — especially with the retreat — the masks come down and you’ll definitely start to see what these women are like. And how some who carry themselves to be, the nice and innocent and the more mature and independent or well-spoken, they crumble and unravel.”
The girl’s night kicks off with Olivia Frazer and Carolina Santos going for Domenica Calarco.
While we know that there was a glassing incident — it actually only involved Domenica smashing a glass on the table in anger. It isn’t as big a deal as they have made it out to be.
The Glass Incident Actually Happens at the Dinner Party Following the Retreat
According to host Megan Pustetto — who got her intel from a current contestant — Domenica, Olivia and Carolina get into a heated argument — and by heated, we mean yelling and screaming. It gets so nuts that Domenica smashes a glass on the table.
“Olivia is telling people, and the media, that she was glassed by Dom, or she attempted to glass her, to make Dom look bad,” Megan revealed. “She definitely didn’t glass Olivia in the face.”
And… this is not the only time we’ll see Domenica and Olivia have at it for the remainder of the season.
Our source also revealed to Megan that Ella becomes involved by sticking up for Domenica, something which creates a divide amongst the ladies.
Couples Implode During the Married at First Sight Retreat
During the Couples Retreat, the remaining couples fight like never before and there are a number of blow-ups and yelling matches, with couples separating and sleeping in different rooms.
Jack Millar and Domenica have a massive argument and once again, Selina Chhaur and Cody Bromley are also on the rocks, before making up. Again.
Ella and Mitch Eynaud stay on good terms, while Al writes Samantha Moizi a poem that does not go down well (sad face!).
In no surprise to anyone, Dion Gianarelli and Carolina fight a lot and honestly, how these two were made to stay together we will never know…
Apparently, they bicker about going for a run. Yes. A run.
Carolina wanted to go for a run to talk before the dinner party, however, Dion had already showered and was dressed and didn’t want to sweat. (Un)luckily for her, he offered up other activities to do with her… but these remain to be seen.
The Married at First Sight Australia Commitment Ceremony Walk Out
During the Commitment Ceremony which follows the couples retreat, the ENTIRE cast walkout.
Here’s what went down.
Carolina is a no-show before rocking up with Daniel Holmes UNINVITED in the second half.
She and Daniel then ask to re-enter the experiment together, and everyone, including the experts, unanimously vote “f*ck no”!
While their reasons were mostly to do with Carolina and Daniel, the support for the beloved Dion was strong. The contestants become like animals in a zoo and yell at the pair and it is H.E.C.T.I.C.
According to a current contestant, it is “the most dramatic scene to ever unfold on MAFS”.
“What happens is massive,” they revealed. “It gets very heated and there’s a serious confrontation. It’s next level and we’ve never seen anything like it.”
