Married at First Sight Australia 2026 will feature a same-sex couple, and it’s about time we saw some more diversity on our screens!

Even though we’re still emotionally recovering from last season, filming for the upcoming season of MAFS has already begun.

As exclusively revealed in episode 593 of the So Dramatic! podcast, two men will be tying the knot on the new season, marking a long-overdue return of queer representation to the experiment.

“It sounds like they actually want the LGBTQIA+ relationship to succeed this time, as the last ones have failed pretty badly,” one source told So Dramatic!. “It’s honestly refreshing to see.”

Another insider added that producers didn’t want to “tick a diversity box”, and they were seriously keen to “get it right”. We’ll believe it when we see it… But fingers crossed!

The last time MAFS featured a same-sex couple was in 2024, when groom Simon Flocco made headlines for bailing on the experiment. His original match, Michael Felix, was later recoupled with intruder groom Stephen Stewart.

Before that, MAFS introduced its first-ever bisexual groom in 2021, when Liam Cooper married Georgia Fairweather.

In 2020, Amanda Micallef and Tash Herz made history as the show’s first lesbian couple, though their pairing was short-lived.

And way back in 2016, MAFS debuted its very first same-sex couple, Craig Roach and Andy John. But let’s say that match didn’t end in a happily ever after…
