While Liam Cooper‘s Married at First Sight journey began with fireworks when he married Georgia Fairweather, the cracks in their relationship soon began to show.

As the series’ first bisexual groom, Liam was aware his sexuality would be touched on. But what we saw on TV was his entire plot revolving around his sexual preferences, and an apparent contempt for his “high maintenance” wife.

During an interview with the So Dramatic! podcast, Liam revealed the damning truth behind his Married At First Sight experience.

Chatting to host Megan Pustetto during the three-part interview (episodes 80, episode 83 and episode 85), the 30-year-old discussed what fans didn’t see on-screen, from grievances with Georgia to how his sexuality was used against him.

Liam Believes Married At First Sight Producers Were Fixated On His Sexuality

Liam confessed to So Dramatic! that his bisexuality was “the focal point of everything” when he joined MAFS.

“I mentioned that I was bisexual from the very start because I didn’t want to hide it,” he said. He then revealed the producers called him several times to confirm his sexuality.

“I was like ‘Yes?’, like I didn’t wake up and change my mind. I’m still bisexual. That was pretty much it, but then when we went on to filming, it [my sexuality] was the focal point of everything,” he said.

It got to a point where Liam had to affirm he wouldn’t answer any more questions about being bisexual.

“I said, ‘I’m not your guinea pig no more. Let’s put that to bed.… You are targeting me with these questions.”

Liam Came Out To Most Of His Friends And Family On Married At First Sight

“A lot of people don’t know, but I actually came out on the show,” Liam admitted.  “My close friends in Brisbane knew, and my brother and sister knew, but that was it.”

He said revealing his true sexuality on the show was like “[ripping] this bandaid off”.

“What better way than to let the whole entire world know?”

Liam’s Thoughts On How The Contestants Reacted To His Bisexuality

Liam said he was “taken aback” by the way his fellow Married at First Sight couples reacted to him being bisexual.

“Then I guess it hit me, like in this day and age people react like that,” he started. “It’s a shame, I really wanted to tell Georgia in a different way.”

Despite people suggesting Beck Zemek was egged on by producers to ask him about his sexuality, Liam says that isn’t the case.

“Knowing Beck, she would never disrespect me like that,” he said, adding that Georgia “handled it really well, it was a nothing issue.”

Liam And Georgia Clicked When Paired Up On Married at First Sight

The Melbournite was “adamant” that he didn’t want to be matched with somebody high maintenance, but rather someone who fit in with his “chilled” life.

Yet upon meeting his bride, sparks flew between Liam and Georgia.

“When we first met at the aisle, it felt like we had known each other for two years plus,” he confessed. “On our wedding day, we literally said to each other that it felt like our actual wedding… I thought we would have worked out.”

What Viewers Didn’t See Before Liam’s Major Fight With Georgia

Fans of Married at First Sight will remember Liam and Georgia’s huge bust-up over Georgia being high maintenance. But according to the TV groom, there was a lot more to it than what we saw at home.

“I didn’t give two shits, she can dress up, she can do what she wants. It was more about: why are you so obsessed with what people think of you?”

He then told So Dramatic! that Georgia and her bridesmaid said he should delete his Instagram account because it was “shit”.

“If she saw me in the real world via Instagram, she would not DM me, she would not come near me, because my Instagram was shit,” he said.

Liam also revealed that once they moved into the MAFS apartment complex, his wife tried to “change [his] whole style”.

“Georgia tried to buy clothes for me… She was like ‘This is what you should wear, what you should buy’,” he said.

Apparently, the 26-year-old also attempted to convince her husband to buy a matching tracksuit that cost over $1,000!

Georgia’s Mum’s Role In Her And Liam’s Married At First Sight Relationship

According to Liam, Georgia’s mum stayed down the road from the couple while they were in the experiment, which “got in the way a bit”.

“They have a tight friendship, her mum’s her best friend, so everywhere Georgia went, her mum was there,” he explained.

‘So every time I’d be like, ‘Do you want to go out for breakfast?’, she’d be like ‘No worries, I’ll just ask mum.’ The whole gang would come, the whole posse would rock up: her mum and her bridesmaid, Laura.”

As a result, Liam confessed he and Georgia weren’t able to get to know each other properly.

Liam Cooper Suspected His Wife Wasn’t On Married At First Sight For The Right Reasons

Liam opened up on the So Dramatic! podcast about calling out Georgia for being a “fake” in his one-on-one interviews. Don’t remember this happening? That’s because it wasn’t shown on-screen.

“No one saw this, but in my voxxies… I started calling her out, I said she was fake, I said she wasn’t here for the right reasons,” he said.

He then revealed an instance when his bride said, “The best thing you could ever do is leave me at final vows”.

Liam queried why this was, to which Georgia said she’d “then…be the broken-hearted girl”.

Little did he know that’s how it would play out on TV.

The Original Date Producers Organised For Liam’s Final Date With Georgia

According to Liam, the MAFS producers attempted to have him take Georgia to a drag show for their final date.

“What people didn’t see that on final dates, they tried to make me take Georgia to a drag queen show,” he revealed.

He says he wanted to take his TV wife to a night-time zoo for a romantic evening but producers roadblocked him.

“They were like, ‘No, you’re going to a drag queen show.’ It wasn’t even aired…it was cut out!” he said, adding, “How is that romantic?

“You’ve got Jake taking Bec on a boat, Patrick doing what he was doing, but then you want me to go to a drag queen show. I know you’re trying to be inclusive, but it’s not what I want.”

“I would never take Georgia on a final date or a date to a drag queen show, sure Sunday brunch or drinks… But final dates? No.”

What Really Happened At Their Final Vows Ceremony

Liam revealed he sent Georgia a “big ass message” apologising for the way he treated her during their conflict at the final dinner party.

“I said ‘I’m so sorry about the way I treated you at the final dinner party, I regret everything, I’m invested in this, I’ve learned that I’ve been self-sabotaging because I’m scared’ and blah blah blah, and I didn’t hear anything from her,” he said.

As soon as his bride began reading her vows, he realised they “weren’t her words”.

“She went to town, I started thinking these are your mum’s words through and through,” he said, adding that his TV wife confirmed her mum wrote her vows.

When he pulled Georgia aside to discuss why she thought he gaslighted her, “she sat there and could not speak”.

After the final vows, Liam claims the pair spoke for “a good hour”.

“We went back and forth. I was like ‘What do you want to do?’, she goes, ‘The ball’s in your court’, and that’s when I thought back: you want me to end this so you’ll be heartbroken.”

The Real Reason Liam Snubbed Georgia At The Married At First Sight Reunion

During the MAFS reunion, Liam appeared to snub Georgia when he greeted the group. But it turns out that had less to do with their final vows and more to do with what happened behind the scenes!

In footage obtained by So Dramatic!, the 30-year-old took to social media to explain the reason he didn’t acknowledge Georgia was due to her involvement in fellow groom Jason Engler‘s homophobic video towards him.

“Tonight was solely based around the video that came out from Georgia, Johnny, Jason. That video was f***ing disgusting,” Liam said.

In episode 83 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Liam said seeing that video “broke” him.

“At that stage, I still loved her, I still cared about her,” he said.

Liam Cooper’s New Relationship With Another Married At First Sight Contestant

Since the rigmarole of MAFS 2021 has ended, the reality star has debuted his relationship with another contestant of the show!

Yep, Liam is now dating Married at First Sight New Zealand contestant Samuel Levi. The pair even announced that they were in LOVE during an interview with So Dramatic!.

Yep! The couple revealed their feelings for one another while on a trip for Liam’s brother’s birthday, with Samuel adding that “[Liam] made [him] cry” with his love admission. Awww!

“We were just mucking around because we both knew we wanted to say it, but we wouldn’t say it,” Liam told So Dramatic! of the special moment.

Samuel then revealed it’s been a long time since he’s felt the effect of someone being in love with him, adding that the last time he felt this way was “well and truly before [his] time on the show, years ago with [his] first ever kind of boyfriend,”

The 28-year-old said it has taken him a long time to build up “trust and safety” in order to feel comfortable in sharing his love for Liam.
