Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Lucinda Light has declared that Jonathan McCullough got the “worst edit” during their time on the show.

During the 11th season of the marriage experiment, Jonathan was portrayed as a bit of a wet blanket and at times, a bit of a d*ck, amid his relationship with Lauren Dunn.

He was also slammed by co-stars and fans alike for returning to the reunion hand-in-hand with Ellie Dix, who was originally matched with Ben Walters.

However, Lucinda has taken to Instagram to defend Jonathan in honour of his birthday, revealing she’ll continue to “vouch” for him as his portrayal wasn’t accurate.

“Every time anyone asks me who got the worst edit on MAFS, my immediate answer is [Jonathan],” she wrote in September.

“It’s like every wet rag moment Jono ever had; they [producers] stitched together! I will vouch for J until the day I die.”

Lucinda Light rationalises Jonathan McCullough and Ellie Dix’s relationship

While MAFS 2024 depicted Jonathan and Ellie’s romance as a “cheating” scandal, Lucinda tried to put it in perspective.

“He hooked up with Ellie within the month of leaving MAFS and the final reunion. On TV, they showed the reunion one week later even though it was a month later for us,” she penned.

“[His] relationship with our fabulous Lauren was chalk and cheese and not right from the beginning. He’s such a great guy, and as a friend, it’s been rough to watch how awful at times the public has been to him.”

Lucinda, 42, went on to reveal that she often gets “boo-ed” when she “stick[s] up” for the couple during her live talk shows.

“Reality TV is a beast of a thing and a Russian Roulette experience I don’t recommend for the faint-hearted,” she added.

Married at First Sight‘s Lucinda Light dubs Jonathan McCullough ‘one of the best dudes’

In concluding her post—which was accompanied by a carousel of pictures of Lucinda and Jonathan—the MAFS bride praised her co-star.

“Luckily, Jono knows himself well and is resilient enough to rise above it, get on with life, and enjoy it regardless,” she said.

Lucinda then thanked Jonathan for “being a really great friend”.

“You’re one of the best dudes and indeed a keeper,” she wrote. “Happy birthday, legend. Love you.”

In response, Jonathan shared his appreciation for her “kind words”.

“It’s been a pleasure. Lots of love.”

Lucinda’s defence of her co-star comes after Jonathan and Ellie announced they are going into business together.
