The Block 2024 host Scott Cam has addressed Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey‘s exit from the show after they sensationally quit due to mental health concerns.

During the September 9 episode, the controversial couple announced they were leaving the series due to mental health struggles.

Speaking to 9Now, the long-time host called their departure a “duty of care moment”.

“Health, well-being and happiness always comes first on The Block,” he stressed. “We always make sure contestants’ well-being is number one.”

The Block host Scott Cam says Jesse Maguire & Paige Beechey received ‘professional help’ after their exit

The TV personality stated that Jesse and Paige received “professional help” after returning home to Perth.

“When they were struggling, and we could see it, we got [them] professional help, we had extensive chats, and we made sure they were comfortable. They made the decision [to leave] themselves, we didn’t force them out,” he said.

“We followed up with professional care in their home state to make sure that was ongoing for as long as they needed it.”

Scott then claimed that whilst the couple’s exit was “traumatic” for everybody, “it was for the best”.
