The Block‘s longtime host Scott Cam has revealed what he thinks the secret is to winning the hit renovation series.
If there’s anything The Block 2023 showed us, it’s that the capacity to make a HUGE profit is more than possible — just take a look at Steph and Gian Ottavio‘s bank account!
Now, Scott — who has hosted the show since 2010 — has confessed success comes down to one thing.
“That’s what I tell them every year, and they never listen,” he told The Spinoff.
Hmm.. if only 2021 Blockheads Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra took notes!
Scott also spoke to the increasing drama that has plagued recent seasons, much to the dismay of long-term fans.
Despite viewer suspicions, he claims producers don’t orchestrate the beef that unfolds on the set.
“Our style is to leave them to their own devices with eight cameras, and just follow stories as they pan out,” the 61-year-old detailed.
“I think it’s a bit Lord of the Flies. Someone ends up being Piggy.”
Scott continued, noting that nobody is set up to fail.
“I say on day one: we all want you to make money and do it well. We all want you to have a life-changing moment,” he said.
It comes after executive producer Julian Cress confirmed The Block 2024 will be set on Victoria’s Phillip Island.
