The truth about The Block 2022‘s Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra budget crackdown has been revealed after the duo surpassed the allocated funds for their build

It’s no secret that House Three faced multiple setbacks and now, promos for The Block‘s final weeks have unveiled that they completely ran out of money.

Host Scott Cam told TV Week that he “had to step in” after Sharon and Ankur repeatedly blew their weekly budget.

The disappointed pair claimed that a “substantial amount of drama” amid their team contributed to their knockback. However, their builders reportedly attempted to help them curb their spending to no avail.

“[Builder] Liam was trying to be realistic with them about what Sharon and Ankur could achieve with their skill set, how much work they were willing to put in and their budget,” a source told So Dramatic!.

“They kept overspending the budget so he was also trying to keep things simple so that they could finish their house… For example, they spent $60k on one room and it still wasn’t finished.”

It was “a few weeks before the end” that Scotty put his foot down after they exceeded their budget by $80,000.

However, while Sharon and Ankur were “cut off”, they continued on a “shoestring budget”.

“[It] all had to be approved by Scott Cam first,” sources confessed.

Budget Blunders Contributed to Sharon and Ankur’s The Block Build Being Unfinished

Sources also previously claimed that the build team “f*cked over” Sharon and Ankur by not finishing the home completely.

However, on-set insiders said Sharon and Ankur’s lack of budget contributed to things being left incomplete.

“They had no budget and expected their builders to work for free towards the end,” they said. “The builders thought, ‘what’s the point? They’re hating on us, [and] shit isn’t getting done.'”

What’s more, is that Sharon and Ankur’s builders were not made aware of material shortages integral to the build.

“Producer Julian Cress had told contestants about this weeks prior, but Sharon and Ankur never passed the info onto their builders,” sources said.

“So they had no idea until the final few days that the material wasn’t coming, but all the builders in the other houses knew this.

“They didn’t have the material, so no matter what they did, it was never going to get finished.”
