FBOY Island Australia host Abbie Chatfield has revealed why she didn’t attend the 2024 Logies after copping backlash for not going.

In case you’ve been keeping tabs on who did and didn’t show their face at TV’s night of nights on August 18, The Bachelor 2019 breakout star was a no-show, much to the surprise of fans.

Abbie previously explained to Yahoo Lifestyle that getting gussied up for the event was “too much faff”. She also said she “[didn’t] want to work for free”, especially since FBOY Island was “robbed” of any nominations. And honestly, that’s fair!

However, one netizen reshared the outlet’s story about Abbie not attending the awards show on Instagram, questioning whether the reality star was “actually invited”.

“Or did she just not go because her show wasn’t nominated? Or so that she could use it to agitate/stir up a frenzy?” the post read.

Not one to take things lying down, Abbie took to her own Instagram page to address the post and explain why she truly didn’t attend the Logies.

Abbie Chatfield calls out ‘nefarious’ accusations about Logies 2024 snub

In the Reel, Abbie said she was “sick” and “broken down” from being constantly accused of doing things to cause a media frenzy or to agitate people or to upset people”.

“I didn’t go to the Logies last night, and now my absence, my lack of attendance, is being accused of being for nefarious reasons, for malicious reasons, for manipulative media mastermind reasons,” Abbie pointed out.

Addressing the accusation that FBOY Island‘s snub was behind her decision not to attend, Abbie confirmed this to be true.

“Yes, that is the main reason I did not go. If I was nominated or my show was nominated, of course, I would go. I respect the Logies. Why would I go if I wasn’t nominated?” she continued.

Adding that she was invited to attend, she “said no, because it’s so much work and you don’t get paid for it“.

“It’s like a f*cking 12-hour day; it’s press, it’s the money for the hair and the makeup and the dress,” Abbie explained. “It’s a lot of work, and I don’t want my time to be spent for free. I’m going to be honest. Maybe that will make people upset, but that’s the reality.

“I don’t think you’d work for free either.”

Abbie Chatfield says she’s not ‘owned’ by the entertainment industry

Abbie, who has been open about her mental health struggles in the past, went on to say that “environments” such as the Logie Awards “stress [her] out”.

“I don’t enjoy those nights. I’m not an extrovert, even though I think a lot of you think that I am,” she admitted.

“In those environments, I get very anxious. I usually go to the bathroom and sit in the bathroom for a long time, and I leave early. I don’t want to be there.”

Adding her decision not to attend “is not because the show’s sh*t”, nor is it because she doesn’t “respect” the Logies.

“It really stresses me out. I don’t like having my outfit, my hair, and my makeup picked apart. If I don’t have to be somewhere, I don’t go somewhere for this industry,” Abbie revealed.

“I love working in this industry. But I don’t feel like I am owned by this industry. I don’t feel obliged to go to these things. I can choose. And I chose not to go because there was no reason for me to go.”

Abbie Chatfield confirms there’s no ‘beef’ with Logies

Abbie followed up with an Instagram Story reiterating that she “[doesn’t] have beef with the Logies”.

“I would rather just be at home with my dogs kissing my hot boyfriend [Adam Hyde],” she penned.
