Fans have called out FBOY Island Australia host Abbie Chatfield after she detailed her stressful life as an influencer.
On August 5, the TV personality took to TikTok to discuss the struggles of being a public figure.
“When I had a nine-to-five job, if I was having a sh*t time mentally, I could go to work and forget about my real life,” she told the camera.
“[As an influencer], you can’t detach your work from who you are, and you have too much time to look inward and create anxiety for yourself. You have to perform and be a personality, even if you’re having a bad time.”
The 29-year-old then confessed she’d put up a facade in front of the camera multiple times, even when she’d been “sobbing”.

“Being in an abusive relationship last year and having to perform was f*cking horrific,” she finished.

Fans took to Reddit to slam the Bachelor breakout star’s take on influencer life.
“I don’t think she realises how tone-deaf she sounds in a cost-of-living crisis,” one person wrote.
Another penned: “She’s becoming more out of touch each year. She has no concept of how bad this comes across, considering she’s been raking in $$$ for years now. She needs a reality check.”
A third claimed they’d never give influencers “sympathy” for “choosing to pick one of the easiest and laziest jobs in the world”, telling Abbie to “get a grip”.
“Anyone who works needs to perform,” a fourth netizen added. “I mean f*ck, if you’re a woman, you’ve no doubt performed many a time.”
A fifth user called the podcast host “incredibly tone deaf”, considering there are much more stressful jobs out there.
“Imagine working in health or emergency services where you’re telling people their loved ones have died… But yes, keep telling us how hard it is to fake your personality as an influencer.”
