Judge Shaynna Blaze has revealed why she “can sleep at night” despite the toxic AF drama unfolding among The Block 2023 contestants.

The 19th season of the hit renovation show has been plagued by a sh*t-ton of infighting between contestants, which is reportedly still happening long after the cameras stopped rolling.

Fellow adjudicator Darren Palmer recently condemned the on-screen “bullying”. Meanwhile, a source recently dished that Shaynna had slammed Channel Nine behind the scenes for showcasing the stars’ awful behaviour.

Now, the long-time judge has spoken to Yahoo! Lifestyle about what she REALLY thinks about the “toxic” drama.

“We don’t know any of this that goes on because we don’t meet the contestants. We’re not told about anything, just so we can purely judge the rooms and not the drama,” Shaynna explained. “I’m surprised to tell you the truth.

“I think they’re in a bubble and there’s so much drama that goes on with the build that it carries on into their personal lives and I just think that maybe, I don’t know, maybe, the stress is too much and people just do all the wrong things. But I am quite shocked at what’s been coming out.”

The Block’s Shaynna Blaze explains how judging really works

Shaynna — who recently appeared on The Masked Singer Australia as Bluebottle — said her goal on The Block has to always stick to judging the rooms above all else.

“That’s why we don’t get to know the contestants and don’t get to meet them… If we know this behaviour — and that’s not just this year, we’ve seen a lot of stuff like this over the years in different ways — that sort of paints everything that you think and perceive,” she admitted.

“If somebody keeps winning rooms, people go ‘Oh, you’re so biased’, it’s like, well, you can’t be biased because we don’t know them.”

She concluded: “So that’s why I can sleep at night knowing that the rooms I judge are purely on what we see because we do not know the people, we don’t have the drama, we don’t know the good and the bad that goes on behind the scenes.

“There are some contestants doing some really great stuff, so I prefer to focus on that.”
