Shaynna Blaze reportedly kept her The Masked Singer Australia appearance a secret from Channel Nine, the network for which she’s a staple judge on The Block.

ICYMI: Shaynna was the latest celebrity to be revealed on Channel 10’s hit singing competition, being unveiled as the Bluebottle mask.

It was a HUGE surprise for everyone because, well, who would’ve thought she’d appear on a rival network, especially since the two shows are competing in the same timeslot?!

Speaking on his morning breakfast show, 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin, The Masked Singer judge Dave “Hughesy” Hughes said Shaynna didn’t tell anybody at Nine she was going on the show.

“She said she doesn’t have an exclusive clause in her [Nine] contract,” he explained. “So she thought, ‘I love to sing, I’ve been a cabaret singer in the past, people don’t really know about it now… I’m gonna go on Masked Singer, and The Block can find out on the night’.”

Iconic (and brave), if you ask us!

Dave went on to claim that The Block host Scott Cam loves The Masked Singer.

“So Scotty Cam would’ve found out while he was sitting down with his popcorn watching,” Dave said.

“Scotty watches it night after night. He watches it with his sons. They watch The Block on catch-up.”

Hmmm, sounds like a bit of BS to us!

The Block judge Shaynna Blaze addresses The Masked Singer gig

Taking to Instagram after her reveal, Shaynna confessed it was “one of the hardest things to keep quiet about”.

“I travel a lot for work so it was easy to say I was on a work trip, but in the couple of weeks leading up to The Masked Singer, Emma, my daughter-in-law, said to [daughters] Carly and Jess, ‘I think this is the year for your Mum to be on the show, I mean, she went to Sydney…” she recalled.

“I laughed it off and after a few days of funny family conversations, it was forgotten about, until Bluebottle arrived.”

The 60-year-old went on to say the short-lived gig has reignited her passion for music.

“I thought this part of my life was over, just a distant memory locked away,” she said. “But for the past couple of years I have been writing and recording, and I have to say I am so happy to have my voice again.

“Watch this space.”
