The Masked Singer Australia 2023 fans have devised a shock theory that’s “ruined” the show for viewers. And TBH, it makes sense.

As much as we love to watch the elaborate performances on the whacky singing show, most of the fun is guessing which of our fave celebs are hiding behind their masks.

And fans have come up with QUITE the theory about how the celeb’s identities remain concealed.

On September 11, one eagle-eyed viewer, Mason Hell-Cat, took to TikTok to point out that the reveals don’t seem to be filmed in front of a live audience, because if they were, audience members would “give away spoilers”.

As a result, he believed that they “film all of the reveals at the start of the show before it’s even gone to air”.

@masonhellcat I cant believe this has only just twigged with me about the Masked Singer. But it all makes so much sense now… #maskedsinger #FYP #AussieComedy #MasonHellCat ♬ Just a Cloud Away – Pharrell Williams

Mason then explained that while it appears that the celebs are all performing in their costumes, that’s probably not the case.

“The celebs go in a sound booth and record their songs. The songs are just played each week and there’s somebody inside the suit dancing around on stage, but it’s not the celeb,” he suggested.

And when it comes to the big reveal, he reckons producers “play the tape of the reveal, depending on who they want to reveal that week”. And we think he’s onto something here!

The Masked Singer fans reckon the theory ‘makes sense’

Many fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts about this theory, with many agreeing that it sounded legit.

“This makes so much sense,” one fan wrote, whilst another penned: “It’s true, otherwise people would see [the celebs] come in every week.”

“Makes so much sense! But has now ruined it for me,” another commented, whilst a fourth remarked: “I thought everyone knew this?”

Even host Osher Günsberg has admitted that the show goes to extreme measures to keep the celebs’ identities concealed, so this checks out!

Meanwhile, other viewers called BS on the theory, with one writing: “I was in the audience last season. Although this is a great theory, it’s incorrect.”

Another added: “Nah it’s not true. I know one of the contestants who was here for a few weeks from overseas. The reveal is done after the audience is gone though.”
