Even though MasterChef Australia is about normal people with big dreams, the show has seen many big names grace its infamous kitchen, from celebrities to world-renowned chefs.

We’ll be taking a look at some of the most ICONIC faces that have passed through the show’s doors over the years.

Katy Perry

We have to start this list off with Katy Perry. No, it wasn’t just a fever dream, the world-famous pop star really did make a feature on the hit cooking show.

Whilst she isn’t known for her cooking skills, the 38-year-old made a special appearance in 2020 to judge a Mystery Box challenge.

The singer was impressed by the delicious flavours presented to her, but we’re not so sure her expertise was highly valued by the cast as her standards can’t be THAT high. After all, she likes the taste of cherry chapstick!

But it wasn’t all fun and games for Katy, who also participated in a challenge where she prepared food for the COVID-19 frontline workers. We love it when celebs get their hands dirty and give back to the community!

Prince Charles

King Charles also made a random AF appearance on MasterChef Australia back in 2018 (when he was still a Prince) and do we wonder how much they had to cough up to pay him?

The contestants at the time participated in a challenge where they had to create a meal for His Royal Highness using local Aussie ingredients. And no, Bunnings snags didn’t make the cut.

The future King of the United Kingdom tasted lots of WILD dishes during his appearance, including wallaby tartare with green ants (gag), but he surprisingly refused to eat any of the tasty canapés.

Maggie Beer

Australian cooking legend Maggie Beer has appeared on the show multiple times as a mentor and a guest judge.

In season 9, she challenged the contestants to make a dessert out of quince paste, and we’d love to add their sweet creations to our charcuterie board.

Nigella Lawson

Little Miss Microwave Nigella Lawson is one of the many famous chefs to have appeared on MasterChef Australia.

The English food writer first hit the Aussie franchise back in 2010 when she judged the Invention Test. She then returned to the show in 2016 as a guest mentor for a challenge that involved the contestants trying their hand at one of her signature dishes.

And it seems like the 63-year-old couldn’t get enough, as she made her third appearance in 2020. However, she joined the show via a hologram (?) as it was the peak of Covid-19 lockdown.

Curtis Stone

Celebrity chef Curtis Stone has made many appearances on MasterChef Australia, and he’s known for charming the pants off the contestants.

The 47-year-old Aussie author and TV personality has led some creative Mystery Box challenges, and he’s also shared his wisdom on a range of different cuisines.

Gordon Ramsay

Foodie ICON Gordon Ramsay is without a doubt the most famous chef to grace the MasterChef kitchen. When he wasn’t dishing up savage critiques of the contestants, the 56-year-old restauranteur was also a guest judge and a mentor.

Whether he was judging roasts or serving them, we have loved watching him do his thing on MasterChef.

Jamie Oliver

English chef Jamie Oliver is another cooking legend who’s made several appearances on MasterChef.

In season four, the restauranteur, who is known for his casual approach to cuisine, judged a challenge where contestants had to make a creative dish using an egg. And trust us when we say that their creations trumped a breakfast McMuffin.

After mentoring in season six and serving as a guest judge in season eight, the 47-year-old Brit has come back again for the current season and he’s already been putting the cast through their paces.

Heston Blumenthal

British celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal has also made a fair few appearances on MasterChef Australia, and he’s well known for pushing the contestants out of their comfort zone.

The food icon is regarded as a pioneer of multi-sensory cooking, food pairing and flavour encapsulation. So it’s no surprise he’s remembered for his CRAZY challenges,

Our favourite was his Alice in Wonderland dessert extravaganza, where the chefs had to whip up treats that the Mad Hatter would approve of.

Not only that but in a challenge that would make our high school history teachers shriek with delight, Heston also tasked the cast with recreating a medieval banquet.

Fans loved the unique edge the 56-year-old brought to the show. After all, when Heston arrives, you know things are about to get crazy.
