Beloved home cook Nigella Lawson is joining the newest season of Channel 7’s hit cooking show, My Kitchen Rules.

After previously appearing on MKRs competitor, MasterChef Australia, the UK foodie queen will head up the series alongside long-time host Manu Feildel.

The 62-year-old said she “can’t wait” to enjoy what the competing home cooks have to offer on My Kitchen Rules 2022.

“Going to restaurants can be a treat, but for me, the true story of food is told through the cooking we do at home,” Nigella told Channel 7.

“So, to have the chance to champion home cooks and be given the intimate privilege of being invited into people’s homes to eat their food fills me with gratitude and excitement in equal measure!”

Who Else Will Appear On My Kitchen Rules 2022?

The international TV star and multi-award-winning author also dished that she’s looking forward to working with Manu. And we’re looking forward to seeing what other everyday household appliances she mispronounces!

“Although he’s a chef and I’m a home cook, the fact is we both just want to eat good food,” she confessed. “I feel I’ve got a lot to learn from him, but just know we’ll have a lot of fun in the process. I can’t wait!”

Former MasterChef judge Matt Preston will also co-host My Kitchen Rules 2022. Meanwhile, the revamped series will see the return of celebrity chefs Curtis Stone and Colin Fassnidge as guest judges.

Nigella’s appointment to the role comes after the long-running series was dropped from Channel 7’s schedule in 2021. The decision followed the previous series’ poor ratings and the exit of disgraced host Pete Evans.

Pete Evans Responds to Being Replaced By Nigella Lawson

The controversial celebrity chef was sacked by Seven after continued criticism over the advice he expressed to fans.

Most infamously, Pete was fined $25,000 by the Therapeutic Goods Administration in 2020. He was slammed for promoting a device he claimed would prevent people from contracting COVID-19.

“It’s programmed with a thousand different recipes and there’s a couple in there for the Wuhan coronavirus,” he said in a Facebook live video last year.

Now, the 49-year-old has spoken out about his My Kitchen Rules replacement — but not without a swipe at the media.

“Disgraced,” he penned online, referring to the descriptor given to him in a recent article. “I do find that term quote funny to see written about me.

“I wish Channel 7, the crew and my dear mate Manu ️all the very best on their upcoming series. I will always cherish the many years we spent together, creating so many wonderful memories.”

Will the revamped series of My Kitchen Rules reach its former glory? We guess we’ll have to wait to find out when it premieres later this year.
