Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Bronte Schofield has revealed the truth behind claims she and Harrison Boon had a secret pact to stay on the show until Final Vows.

ICYMI: One source told So Dramatic! that the duo entered into a deal after producers and her TV hubby pressured Bronte to stick out the experiment.

Now, in episode 285 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Bronte has explained what exactly went down behind the scenes of that pact and why she eventually pulled the plug on it.

Reiterating that production wasn’t keen on letting Bronte leave MAFS, she said Harrison suggested they end the series on good terms. As if all the sh*t he pulled was going to be swept under the rug…

“Harrison basically said to me, ‘If we’re going to survive this, we need to get to Final Vows’,” she explained.

What was the Final Vows pact?

In short, the idea was that they stay through Final Vows and not “leave Australia with a bad taste in their mouth”.

“[Then] at least Australia can say that they gave the relationship a go on the outside,” Bronte explained of Harrison’s plan.

With a month between Final Vows and the reunion, the father-of-one would poise distance as the couple’s main hurdle.

“He goes, ‘Then we get to the reunion and say that the distance was too much’,” Bronte said, adding that she rejected this idea because she was very vocal about her plans to move to Sydney.

As such, she was worried she would “look like an absolute idiot” to her co-stars if they said she wasn’t willing to move.

While she thought it was “the right thing” in the moment, Bronte acknowledges it was a cooked idea to agree to the pact anyway.

“I take accountability for agreeing to this because it just felt like the right thing to do at the time.”

As we all know now, the pact didn’t eventuate, with Bronte and Harrison walking away from the series just shy of Final Vows.

Why did Bronte Schofield pull out of her and Harrison Boon’s Final Vows pact?

Bronte recalls sending Harrison a text before Home Stays, expressing how “happy” and “grateful” she was that they were “getting along” in light of the pact.

However, it was what Harrison said next that put her right off staying until the end of the experiment.

“He’s gone and said, ‘Oh you’re doing such a good job at your acting’,” she recalled. “And that’s when I’ve gone, ‘F*ck off’.

“I’ve cracked it.”

Acknowledging that the comment “could have been” related to their pact, Bronte felt it was more a “dig at [her] character and [her] authenticity”.

“So I was really upset. He knew how much I cared about him and he knew that my feelings were real,” she expressed. “It just felt like a dig.

“It solidified for me that his feelings [for me] were never real.”

So, who’s acting now, Harrison?
