Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Bronte Schofield has broken down the claims that she and Harrison Boon matched on dating app Hinge before filming the experiment.

Bronte and Harrison were never without a scandal and the tea that the pair had previously linked up on a dating app had fans in a tizzy.

Now, the 28-year-old has broken down the allegations in part two of her tell-all with So Dramatic!‘s Megan Pustetto.

In episode 280 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Bronte said “it’s really not that deep”, and that she “didn’t even reply” to her eventual TV bae when he first messaged her.

It all kicked off when the Western Australian set her dating app radius to the “East Coast” as she intended to move to Sydney eventually.

“So I match with this guy and it turns out that his name, obviously, was Harrison,” she recalled. “All I remember is that he said ‘Hey’, and then I just didn’t respond.”

Confessing she’s “terrible at replying”, Bronte returned to the app sometime later and saw Harrison had tried to start a conversation “two or three times”.

“I was on FaceTime with Kirra [when I saw it],” she said of her sister. “I screenshot [the conversation] and I went, ‘Oh my God… Read the room’.

“If I’m not responding, like, leave me alone. Then I just left it [and] never looked into it, never touched it. That was the end of that.”

When did Bronte Schofield remember she and Harrison Boon had matched on a dating app?

According to Bronte, it didn’t click that the pair had matched until Kirra asked his name at the wedding.

“And I’ve gone… ‘Why do I know that name? You live in Sydney, I live in Perth’,” she said. “I was like, ‘That’s interesting’.”

When she returned to the hotel that evening, Bronte searched for Harrison on Facebook.

That’s when she noticed she had a friend request from Harrison sent 10 WEEKS before their TV nuptials.

She then delved deeper into his profile and noticed a snap of him and his young son, August, which she recognised from Hinge.

“I messaged Kirra straight away. I was like, “Kirra, I have been matched with somebody that I have matched with on Hinge’,” Bronte recalled.

“It was just this big coincidence.”

While it would be an epic storyline for TV, Bronte said her producer told her “not to say anything”.

However, she did let it slip to some of the other brides and eventually brought it up with Harrison partway through the experiment.

What did Harrison Boon say about matching with Bronte Schofield?

Bronte said Harrison initially denied matching with her on any dating apps before she insisted they had.

“And he goes, ‘Oh yeah, so-and-so said that you said that’. So I go, ‘Oh, so you do know about it and why are you trying to act like you don’t?'” Bronte recalled.

According to Harrison, his bride had told others that he “was just a loser who was talking to himself [on Hinge]”, which Bronte confirmed.

“So I showed him the profile,” she said. LOL, busted!

She then asked why he attempted to befriend her on Facebook after she didn’t reply to him. And, of course, he had an answer for that too.

“He goes, ‘No, Bronte. I didn’t add you on Facebook because you didn’t respond… I just add a lot of girls because I would have just gone through my suggestions and you would have just happened to have been in there’.”

Ummm, pretty sure that’s not how it works, but if that helps you sleep at night Hazza…
