Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Bronte Schofield has broken her silence over the leaked voice memos that proved she knew of Harrison Boon before the experiment.

The 28-year-old’s marriage to the former tradie was tumultuous from the get-go, with things blowing up even more off-screen as sources close to the couple exposed their true intentions in heading on the show.

To quickly recap: The Bachelors Australia 2023‘s Jessica Tomlinson was a friend of Bronte’s who attended the wedding and nabbed her 15 minutes of fame while exposing Harrison for dating another Bachie babe just days before the TV nuptials.

Things became very sour, very quickly, with Jessica soon leaking texts and voice memos that revealed Bronte was aware Harrison (and all his heavy baggage) would be appearing on the show alongside her.

The messages revealed the Western Australian was plotting against the groom from the get-go, in which she told Jessica she was going use Harrison’s real-life drama “to [her] advantage”.

Now, in a tell-all interview (episode 278) with the So Dramatic! podcast, Bronte got candid about the voice memos, admitting she knows she “messed up” in sending them.

Married at First Sight‘s Bronte Schofield says she has ‘no recollection’ of her conversation with Jessica Tomlinson

Bronte told host Megan Pustetto that she doesn’t know how to “justify the things [she] said” when she has “no recollection” of the conversation with Jessica.

“Jessica sold me out knowing that I’m in such a vulnerable place that I can’t properly defend myself,” she said.

“I have zero access to my Instagram messages and no recollection of that actual conversation… But what did she say in order for me to react in that way?”

ICYMI: While screen recordings of the conversation showed messages sent by both Bronte and Jessica, none of the voice memos from Jessica were ever heard.

“It just doesn’t make any sense to me that I would just be so upset and so mad, but there’s no context,” Bronte continued.

However, she knows trying to rationalise the situation is “absolutely pointless”.

“The viewers already have a narrative about me that they’re sticking to. And you know, honestly, it’s okay,” she admitted. “No matter what I say about [the voice memos], no one will be satisfied with my answer.”

She also said she was “screwed either way” thanks to the “questionable” and “controversial” storyline she was attached to on MAFS.

Bronte Schofield says she ‘can’t apologise’ for what she said prior to Married at First Sight

“No matter what I say, it sounds bad,” Bronte said of the situation.

However, she doesn’t think her “dramatic” reaction to being told Harrison intended to see other women while in the experiment was “wrong”.

“I went on a rant to a friend and I was like, ‘I’m gonna act like this… I’m gonna do that’, which is so far from how I acted whatsoever,” she confessed.

“At the end of the day, all I can say is that I really f*cked up by saying that. I feel terrible, but I can’t apologise because I really don’t think that what I said was wrong.”

She went on to say that if anything, she was only trying to “expose Harrison for who he truly is”.

Bronte added that when she feels “threatened” she is known to say “nasty things”, which partly explains her leaked memos.

“I don’t think anyone would be happy to hear that their potential match was going to be dating other people,” Bronte said. “Was it really 100 per cent serious? Probably not.

“But I’m going on a show where people get accused of being fake every season, and it just completely took over the internet.

“So I don’t blame people for thinking that I was fake, because I would hear those voice notes and go, ‘It doesn’t match what’s going on on the show’.”
