Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Melinda Willis has been accused of purchasing Instagram followers by one of her co-stars.

Unlike most of her castmates, the beauty CEO has gained around 200,000 new followers since MAFS started airing. However, one groom has claimed that these followers aren’t real.

“The show ended weeks ago and [Melinda’s] still gaining thousands of followers every single day when the rest of us are barely getting any. It’s suss,” the contestant told Yahoo Lifestyle.

We’re not naming names, but it sounds like Mr Red Flag might not be feeling the love as much as he thought he would!

After completing an audit of the 32-year-old‘s social media following, Yahoo Lifestyle confirmed that Melinda’s fanbase was 100% genuine, unlike some of her co-stars

Experts say this year’s MAFS cast doesn’t have what it takes to become influencers

This comes after reports that the MAFS 2023 cast doesn’t have what it takes to become full-time influencers.

Whilst previous seasons have seen contestants gain over 500,000 followers, the current brides and grooms haven’t seen the same level of success on the gram. Boohoo!

In fact, Melissa Sheppard has only amassed around 25,800 Instagram followers after her stint on the show whilst Hugo Armstrong has gained 11,300.

“These days you can’t quit your day job with anything less than 300,000 followers and even then they have to be super engaged. The market is more saturated than ever,” a professional influencer manager told Yahoo Lifestyle.

Ouch, that’s gotta hurt. This year’s cast didn’t even make it to the Z list!
