Warner Brothers are casting single men over 40 years old for a reality TV show and it’s definitely giving off The Bachelor Australia vibes.

The TV production company behind The Bachelor franchise have shared a post to their Instagram looking for “Australia’s most eligible, outgoing and single men over 40” to come forward.

“If you’re over 40 and looking for the one, comment below – or tag someone you think deserves their shot at love,” the caption read.

There’s no confirmation it’s The Bachelor related, but it comes as the show faces mounting calls to diversify the suitors and contestants it casts.

While a man in his 40s is hardly ticking the diversity box, it is a departure from the many 20 and 30-somethings that have featured heavily since the reality dating show premiered in Australia a decade ago when Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich found love.

Massive hint The Bachelor is returning in 2024

In March TV Blackbox reported Warner Brothers were advertising for Sydney-based casting producers to work on a “returning large-scale reality dating show”.

“[We were] was sent a screenshot of an ad looking for crew for a ‘returning large-scale reality dating show’. At the bottom of the post are two red roses on either side,” the article said.

Sounds like The Bachelor to us!

The ad said filming would be underway from the end of April or the beginning of May to June.

So once the show has finished in post-production, it will likely return to our screens sometime in 2024.

The Bachelor suffers terrible ratings

Whatever the plans are for the next rendition of The Bachelor, they need to be pretty drastic.

The last few seasons of the show (including The Bachelorette and The Bachelors) were a ratings disaster.

At its peak in 2018, The Bachelor was bringing in nearly one million viewers a night. But each season since the numbers have dwindled.

This year, the so-called shake-up to feature three suitors, Felix Von HofeJed McIntosh and Thomas Malucelli, instead of one in The Bachelors, also failed.

It premiered to just 309,000 viewers – the lowest premiere in the history of the franchise.
