The Challenge Australia 2022‘s Ryan Gallagher has revealed he was signed on to be a lead on The Bachelors Australia 2023 before being cut just weeks beforehand.
Ryan — who first found fame on Married at First Sight 2018 — took to Instagram on February 2 to drop the little-known fact, and he surprisingly had a pretty positive outlook on the whole shebang.
Sharing an image of his “casting consent and release deed” form, the 34-year-old said he was “glad” he got dumped at the 11th hour.
“Not being on The Bachelor this year turned out to be the best thing to have ever done [sic],” he penned.
“I wouldn’t have done The Challenge nor met Emily [Seebohm].”
The duo met on the reality start-studded series in 2022 and, as first reported by So Dramatic!, struck up a cute AF romance that is thriving to this day.
Ryan also clarified that he “didn’t pull out” of The Bachelors, but was “cut three weeks before filming” but said he was “glad.”
So he should be! Think of it as a blessing not to have your name attached to such a trainwreck season…

In a subsequent slide, Ryan admitted he “wouldn’t have been a very good Bachelor this year anyway”.
“I didn’t meet the criteria as I know how to change a car tyre, start a lawnmower and don’t have Facetune.” LOL.
Now, this tea isn’t exactly piping hot, considering So Dramatic! podcast host Megan Pustetto hinted at the casting back in May 2022.
Several former reality TV stars had signed onto The Bachelors 2023 before being canned
As reported in episode 183 of the So Dramatic! podcast, multiple known reality stars had signed onto the revamped series.
Due to the NDAs that were signed, we can’t reveal names — aside from Ryan, who done gone and outed himself.
However, Megan dished: “I do know of three former reality stars from various shows who had gone through the entire casting process signed contracts, the full shebang.
“Then they were all suddenly dropped at different times.”
Producers reportedly told the axed leads that they were “going in a different direction”. Yeah, off a cliff!
RIP, Bachie, it was (kinda) good while it lasted…
