The Real Housewives of Melbourne‘s Anjali Rao has waved goodbye to glitz and glamour, with the 49-year-old slated to appear on the next season of Australian Survivor.

As exclusively revealed by So Dramatic! in recent weeks, the hit castaway series will return in 2023, with the theme of Heroes v Villains.

The highly anticipated season will see 12 former contestants compete alongside 12 new players — one of whom is the controversial housewife.

As reported in episode 204 of the So Dramatic! podcast, a source dished that Anjali was a “last minute” addition to the cast.

“Anjali has signed on for the next season of Survivor. She was a last minute signing,” they said. “She only had five weeks’ notice before filming started.”

According to the insider, production was “set on casting a villainous and ruthless entertainment reporter” after Sydney Morning Herald journo Andrew Hornery was blasted for trying to “out” actress Rebel Wilson.

The source continued: “They called a number of entertainment reporters but none were keen to sign up.”

As such, the Australian Survivor powers at be settled on Anjali, who has extensive experience as a global news anchor and broadcast journalist.

Who Else Will Appear On Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains?

Now, according to a very well-placed source, the a number of fan-favourite contestants are making a comeback.

This includes 2016 winner Kristie Bennett, hunky 2019 hopeful Shaun Hampson, as well as 2022 import Nina Twine and her co-star, Jordie Hansen.

In addition, 2021 icon George Mladenov and two-time star Shonee Fairfax (2018/2020) will also compete.

The series was also seeking other reality contestants to join Anjali onshore, namely The Bachelorette‘s Ciarran Stott.

However, he is already signed on to appear on The Challenge Australia.

As for Anjali — let’s just hope she doesn’t walk out on this show part-way through the season like her last gig!
