We’ve found some major evidence that The Bachelor Australia’s Laura Byrne and Matty “J” Johnson are set to be married in Bali in July.
The affianced reality TV couple jetted over to Indonesia in July with their two children, Marlie-Mae, three, and Lola, one, over the weekend, spending quality family time in Kuta.
But while Matty J claimed the holiday was to celebrate his July 6 birthday, fans have begun to speculate that they’re also in Bali for their long-awaited wedding. And here’s why…
Laura Byrne’s Bestie Brittany Hockley Has Also Travelled to Bali Along With Other Industry Friends
While Matty J, Laura and the kids are living it up at a private resort in Kuta, their closest friends are just a short drive away in Seminyak.
Brittany Hockley and her sister Sheri Hockley were joined by entertainment reporter Haydn Hickson and radio presenter Mitch Churi at the luxurious Aksari Villa in Seminyak, Bali.
On Mitch’s Instagram, he shared a video of Haydn swinging on a hammock.
“This doesn’t feel safe, is there WH&S [workplace health and safety] in this country?” Mitch asked. So, they’re in Bali for work? Ready to get the first scoop on Laura and Matty J’s big day?
To add fuel to the rumour-flames, a private Instagram account commented: “enjoy the wedding” on the post, to which Mitch replied with the sneaky eyes emoji.
Laura Byrne and Matty J Spent the Day in the Same Resort as Brittany Hockley
Sheri and Brittany were also spotted at a Kuta hotspot, Finn’s Beach Club on July 9. Sharing a pic of Sheri and her partner Jay Hothi on her Instagram Story, Brittany wrote: “They’re getting married too.” Hmm, funny, weird.
Laura posted adorable couple pics of her and Matty J by a resort pool on the same day. If you look closely, the pool umbrellas are the same design as those in Sheri’s photos… So, they were all together in the adult only areas of Finn’s Beach Club.
Laura and Brittany proved they met up at the beach club by sharing a video of the besties dancing on Instagram. See, same umbrellas!
“In case y’all were wondering how your girls are going on break. We’ve being doing heaps of prep for our return, lots of research, the vibes are high [sic],” the post read.
More Instagram Evidence That Laura Byrne and Matty J Will Get Married In Bali
Matty J also posted content from Seminyak on his Instagram and TikTok, so they’ve likely met up with their friends more than once. It appears as though Laura also took some time out of her holiday to promote her jewellery brand at the same beach.
Not to mention fellow Bachelor alum Locky Gilbert also flew to Bali. Is he another wedding guest?
The Bachelor’s Laura Byrne’s Family Are ALSO Travelling To Bali
Laura Byrne’s sister Alisha de Graaf revealed on Instagram Story that she was flying to Denpasar from Sydney on Sunday with her daughter Tasmin Mae.
Her husband Michael de Graaf and son Archer Brock remained at home, so they’re not also on a family getaway.
Eagle-eyed fans have also suggested Laura’s mother Kim Vecanski and Matty J’s mum are also headed to Bali, but we’re not sure if the rest of Matty’s fam are making the trip for the wedding..
It would seem a little odd for Laura’s family to be flying out to Bali just to celebrate Matty J’s birthday, right? And they’ve only just left, so they missed the actual birthday entirely!
Laura Byrne’s Mad Dash To Melbourne To Pick Up Her Wedding Dress
In late June, Laura jetted to Melbourne with her mother Kim, sister Alisha and close friend Lauren Cush to seal the deal on her wedding dress from Kyha Studios.
Since there’s a boutique located in Sydney, it seems rather odd that Laura had to fly to Melbourne in order to find her dress. Was it a last-minute buy or a location-specific final fitting?
“Ya girl doesn’t mess around! I’ve finally chosen a dress, and after 3.5 years of being engaged (plus two kids) it all feels very real now [sic],” Laura wrote on Instagram, posing in front of the coveted boutique.
“I can’t wait to marry the shiznay out of you, [sic]” she added, tagging Matty J.
Meanwhile, Alisha wrote that Laura finally said “yes to the dress”, adding she couldn’t wait to see her walk down the aisle.
Brittany didn’t appear in the photos, but she did comment on the post. It appears Laura went shopping when Brittany had COVID-19, meaning she couldn’t have attended the fitting.
What Doesn’t Add Up About Matty J and Laura Byrne Having Their Wedding in Bali
However, Laura previously mentioned on the Life Uncut podcast that the wedding was booked for September. So are all their loved ones on a group trip together or was Laura throwing fans off the scent of the actual date?
Laura also recently shared with fans that she was participating in Dry July. While that doesn’t prove she’s not also having her wedding in Bali, we reckon she’d probably be keen for a glass of sparkling on her big day.
A lot of Matty J’s family and friends also have small children, so it’s unclear how many of his loved ones would be able to make it to the Bali wedding. However, could the couple plan to have a local ceremony in September too?
