Despite past claims about Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey‘s decision to leave The Block, one production source said it wasn’t their choice after all!
ICYMI: the engaged couple announced they were leaving the renovation show in Week Five in a bid to preserve their mental well-being and to “save their relationship”.
While Paige told So Dramatic! that quitting the landmark 20th season “was easily the best decision” they made, an insider has since dished that producers “didn’t give them a choice” but to pack their bags.

As reported in episode 421 of the So Dramatic! podcast, The Block psychologist deemed the couple “too unstable” to continue the show after a number of “explosive blow-ups”.
“Producers overheard them screaming and sent them to the psychologist who deemed them too unstable, toxic and too much of a risk to stay on the show,” one source said.
“[Producers] didn’t give them a choice; they told them to pack their things and that they would be leaving in the morning.”
The Block‘s ‘mental health excuse’ was a ‘cover-up’ for Jesse & Paige’s exit
The insider added that producers assured the couple it would be portrayed as if “they left on their own accord”.
“They came up with the mental health excuse because no one can question that, and it would be positively received if they looked to be prioritising their mental health,” they said.
“But that was just the cover-up. They had no choice. If they hadn’t followed their exit plan, they would have been terminated anyway, and the storyline might not have been so favourable.”
Allegedly, Jesse asked to remain on the show without Paige, but producers turned down his offer.

“No producer or Block partner wanted to work with them because of how badly they treated and spoke to everyone,” the source continued.
“What they saw was too much of a red flag to keep them on the show. They breached their code of ethics, and to be honest, they were lucky that producers even gave them the mental health out.”
Tea about Jesse and Paige’s exit from The Block comes as they announced they had postponed their upcoming wedding indefinitely.
