The Block 2024 star Ricky Recard‘s ex-girlfriend Lauren Smith has set the record straight after reports she was “blindsided” by the tradie allegedly dumping her for the show’s makeup artist.
ICYMI: Daily Mail Australia reported that Lauren was SHOOK when she learned the plumber had entered a relationship with Erin Lee, a makeup artist on the renovation show.
The new relationship surfaced while Lauren was holidaying in alone Mexico — a trip planned with Ricky for her 30th — following their split, which took place after she housesat for him while he was on The Block for three months.
Ricky later told the Fifi, Fev & Nick radio show that he was “shocked” Lauren went to the media about their relationship.
However, Lauren has since denied she reached out to anyone to share her Story.
In screenshots from her Instagram Story obtained by So Dramatic!, the mother-of-one wrote: “I did not approach any media outlet regarding my relationship with Rick.
“They contacted me AFTER they had already contacted Rick, Erin and Erin’s [ex] husband. They already had all the information at hand before they approached me.”
She also said that Ricky should be aware she’s “not a spiteful person considering [they] were together for 1.5 years”.

Lauren confirmed that she and Ricky were still together while he filmed The Block but split “when filming was wrapping up in June”.
“We spoke via messages about MUTUALLY ending the relationship,” she explained. “The following week we officially ended things once he was home.
“I was not ‘heartbroken’ or ‘blindsided’ by the relationship ending as we both had different reasons for wanting to end things.”
Lauren said Ricky “wasn’t feeling it anymore”, while she was “sick of getting treated and spoken to like sh*t”.
“I was, however, blindsided by the sudden new relationship only weeks after our split,” she confessed.
In a follow-up Story, Lauren said that she was “not a scorned ex”.
“I literally could not give two sh*ts about someone who treats women like sh*t,” she wrote. “If we broke up before he went on the show like he claims, please tell me why I would bother looking after his dogs, his house and helping his employee with business matters while I have my own business and child to worry about?
“Oh, and why would I drive to Phillip Island twice to see him?”
And she’s got a point there!

In a final Story, Lauren pointed out some glaring truths in Ricky’s story about how he and Erin came to be.
“He has made claims that he met Erin during [The Block] promo shooting, which was at the very end of [February], whilst we were still together and whilst she was still married,” she recalled.
“Exchanging of phone numbers then leading to a very quick new relationship after our split… And no I didn’t label him a love rat, that is what the media has labelled him as.”
Lauren concluded her posts by stating, “This is the last thing [she’ll] say about this fkn circus”.
“People can believe what they want about this situation, but the evidence doesn’t lie, and I have plenty of it.”
