Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Richard Sauerman, 62, has responded to rumours that he’d be The Golden Bachelor, and we’d SO tune in for this!

ICYMI: In 2023, American TV network ABC created a version of The Bachelor for single seniors after a second shot at love, with 72-year-old Gerry Turner as its leading man.

Then, in November 2023, it was revealed that The Golden Bachelor might be coming to Australia.

The speculation began after Warner Bros. put out a casting call for “fun, active and outgoing male seniors aged 60 or over who are divorced/widowed and open to meeting the next love of their life”.

Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle, Richard spilled that expert Mel Schilling suggested he take up the role after filming the MAFS Reunion.

“Mel turned to me and said, ‘Richard, you better get ready for a call, ‘ and I said, ‘ What do you mean?'” he dished. “She goes: ‘They’re looking for a Golden Bachelor.’

“I knew they had a Bachelor in America who’s 72 and breathed new life into the whole series. But I thought about that, and I thought, yeah, right,” he joked.

MAFS’ Richard reveals whether he’d be keen to be The Golden Bachelor

The former groom then confirmed that he’d be open to becoming Australia’s first Golden Bachelor. And we totally dig this!

“It’d be a conversation. Of course, I’d consider it,” he said. “I don’t think I’d be right for The Bachelor. I’m too rogue. I’m just not refined enough. [But] I’d always have a conversation.”

And unlike some of his co-stars (ahem: Jack Dunkley), we wouldn’t mind seeing Richard on our screens again!
