Australian Idol judge Amy Shark has apologised to fans as she cancels her upcoming North American tour in order to undergo emergency surgery.

The 37-year-old singer announced the cancellation on Instagram on August 9, less than a month before the US gigs were supposed to kick off on September 6 in New York.

In a grid post, Amy said she had recently been experiencing “some very uncomfortable moments”.

“[I] have just found out that I need surgery ASAP,” she wrote.

The I Said Hi singer said she was opting to “keep the details private” but assured fans that she’s “all good” — despite needing a “month to recover”.

“I’m so sad right now,” Amy confessed. “I’m very sorry but I need to focus on my health for a month.

“I hope you understand, and I promise I’ll be back as soon as I’m recovered. Much love from sad Amy.”

In a subsequent slide, she shared a photo of herself pouting while in a hospital gown.

Support floods in for Australian Idol‘s Amy Shark ahead of surgery

The comment section of the Australian Idol judge’s post was flooded with support from fans and countless celebs.

“Sending you love Amy,” actor Rebel Wilson wrote.

While Jessica Origliasso from The Veronicas said: “Sending love babe.”

SAS Australia and Million Dollar Island host Ant Middleton said the singer needs to “help [her]self in order to help others”.

“Stay strong, take the life lessons from it and grow.”

The unexpected turn of events comes after Amy took home the Most Popular New Talent award at the 2023 Logies on July 30.
