How much does the SAS Australia cast get paid?

Taking on SAS Australia is no easy feat, but what’s in it for the cast? Well, money, of course.

According to New Idea, convicted drug smuggler Cassie Sainsbury is one of the “highest paid of the cast this year”, with other reports hinting that the upcoming reality star is receiving a six-figure sum.

The rest of the cast is reportedly pocketing a cool $30,000 each to appear on the show. However, this seems dependent on their status.

In 2022, former AFL player Wayne Carey was paid $250,000 to appear on the show, whilst NRL’s Sam Burgess took home between $150,000 to $200,000 in 2021. Sheesh!

Convicted drug trafficker Schapelle Corby was also said to earn $150,000 for her appearance in the show’s first season. Now that’s impressive!

How does SAS Australia compare to the real SAS process?

According to an ex-SAS officer, the recruitment process for SAS Australia is very similar to the real deal.

“It’s a fairly decent adaptation of the selection process. The key point of difference is that while the TV show is filmed over two weeks, the real SAS selection takes six months,” the officer told Mamamia in 2021.

However, he said the on-screen base camp is much more “luxurious” than it is IRL.

The officer also revealed that the interrogations are “well off”, confessing that the real thing is much more savage and will “basically break you.” Yeah, no thanks.
