Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Layton Mills still hasn’t said the L-word to his on-screen wife Melinda Willis despite the pair now dating for ten months.
Since filming wrapped, the couple’s relationship has been going from strength to strength. However, during an interview with Punkee on July 4, the beauty CEO admitted that she is still yet to hear her beau say “I love you” back to her.
“Who said ‘I love you first’, and only? That would be me because I’ve never heard it from Layton,” the 32-year-old confessed. “He can’t say I love you. He hasn’t and he just can’t do it.” Ouch.
However, she admitted that she does “feel loved” by Layton who she says shows his affection in other ways. Well, you know what they say: Good things come to those who wait!

The power duo also shared that doing long distance is the most challenging part of their relationship.
Currently, Melinda lives in Brisbane while Layton lives in Sydney and since their relationship is still very fresh, the pair have found it difficult to navigate.
“A lot of people [told] me, long-distance works, you can make it work, you’re gonna miss each other more,” Melinda said.
“But for a relationship like mine and Layton’s, where we are really trying hard to figure each other out…the long-distance, it’s very bad.”
The Biotech CEO chimed in, explaining that due to their fiery nature, the distance makes their arguments even more intense.
“It’s much easier to embrace [and] get over [arguments] quickly when you’re there together. Navigating [long-distance has] probably been our biggest challenge,” he confessed.

Long-distance may not be plaguing the couple for much longer, as Layton has revealed his plans to move closer to Melinda.
“I’ve been focusing on wrapping up my work obligations in Sydney for [about] two months and I’m gonna be making a move up north,” the 35-year-old dished. Aww!
After the move, he’ll still be around three hours away from Melinda. However, the couple are happy with taking “baby steps”, and we love to see it!
