Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Melinda Willis has clarified what went down between her and co-star Evelyn Ellis following reports they “avoided” each other at a recent event.
ICYMI: The pair were seemingly on frosty terms when at the Logies nominations event on June 19, where the two brides allegedly kept their distance from one another.
Of course, fans went into a frenzy, considering Melinda recently dished that the gals were still close post-show.
Taking to her Instagram Story on June 22, Melinda broke down WTF actually happened at the event.
Turns out, it’s not that deep.
“So there was an article that came out… saying like, ‘Brides at war, besties Mel and Ev are no longer friends’,” she said in response to a fan asking about the drama. “So, that’s not entirely true.
“Lately, I’ve done some interviews and I feel that a lot of things have been taken out of context and there’s a lot of media stirring the pot… You just don’t really know who to believe.”
Noting that she was “upset” over reports she and Evelyn were feuding, Melinda set the record straight.
What did Melinda Willis say about the incident involving Evelyn Ellis?
According to Melinda, the Logies breakfast event was “really awkward”.
“So, when I went over to say hi and hug Ev at the event, she didn’t give me a hug,” the beauty CEO explained. “So, I was really awkward and taken aback.
She then “went into the corner” where Layton Mills, Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton were situated and carried on with her interviews and photo opportunities from there.
Melinda said she and Evelyn spoke “later on”, which was when Evelyn said she, “thought it was [Melinda] who wasn’t going to give her the hug”.
“So, she was also awkward,” the 33-year-old confessed. “So, everything’s okay.”
Phew!
While Melinda and Evelyn may still be on good terms, the same can’t be said for some of the other brides, including Claire Nomarhas, whom Melinda said she’s no longer in contact with.
