How to apply for MasterChef Australia 2024

We’ve done a little digging into the casting process and it’s nowhere near as difficult as curating the perfect croquembouche.

Potential contestants must fulfil the following criteria to progress through the casting process:

  • You must be over the age of 18 by October 16 2023
  • You must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident
  • You can’t be, or be closely related to an Endemol Shine Australia or Network Ten employee (no nepotism allowed here)
    • You can’t have any formal tertiary or other professional cooking qualifications (watching the entire Bon Appetit catalogue doesn’t count)
    • Your main source of income can’t come from preparing and cooking food in a professional environment
    • You must be an amateur
    • You can’t be a criminal (shock horror)
    • You must be available between October 2023 to May 2024 for filming

If you fulfil the above criteria, you’ll be asked to provide basic personal details, such as your name and birthday.

And like last year, applicants must submit a picture of themselves along with snaps of at least three dishes they’ve cooked.

Then, hopefuls are encouraged to “upload a 1 to 3-minute video displaying your skills in the kitchen.”

In the video, they should also “introduce who you are and what food/cooking means to you.” The video submission is not mandatory.

And that’s it!

So if you’re a budding chef with a passion for burning cheesecake on national TV, you can apply for MasterChef Australia 2024 here.
