If you reckon you have the skills to execute a disgustingly good croquembouche, then you’re in luck because MasterChef Australia is now casting for 2023!
With the 2022 season of the beloved cooking show now wrapped (big congrats to winner Billie McKay), producers are well and truly on the hunt for the next batch of hopeful home cooks.
According to the casting call, applications for the reality show’s fifteenth season will close on August 14 2022, which is a month from the time of publication.
What Does the Application Process For MasterChef Australia Entail?
Given that MasterChef is arguably Australia’s most famous food-focused show (sorry, My Kitchen Rules), you would think the application process would be long, arduous, and probably entail tempering chocolate or something of the sort, right?
Well, by the looks of the show’s recent casting call it actually seems relatively easy.
All hopeful contestants must do is submit a picture of themselves along with snaps of at least three dishes they have cooked.
Then, the post encourages applicants: “upload a one-three minute video of yourself displaying your skills in the kitchen.” In the video, they should also “introduce to us who you are and what food/cooking means to you.” The video submission is not mandatory.
Applications must be submitted online.
Who Can Apply For MasterChef Australia?
The famed reality show is based around the talent of home cooks. Accordingly, the MasterChef Australia casting call makes it clear that professional chefs need not apply.
“Your main source of income cannot come from preparing and cooking fresh food in a professional environment,” the note reads.
Additionally, applicants “cannot have any formal tertiary or other professional cooking qualifications acquired in the last 10 years.”
Hopefuls are required to be over 18 years of age (if you’re younger, you’ll just have to hold out for Junior MasterChef). You also must not be related to employees of the show’s production company, Endemol Shine Australia.
The show will be filmed between October 2022 and June 2023. So, check your schedule!
