After months of too many cooks in the kitchen, the winner of MasterChef Australia 2022 has been crowned!
During the July 12 finale, Billie McKay and Sarah Todd battled it out in the kitchen — while presenting some stunning food to the judges.
Ultimately, season seven winner Billie — who was tipped as the final “fave” of the season — took out the top spot!
Billie McKay became the first chef to win MasterChef Australia for the second time
Taking to her Instagram, Billie shared a brief message to fans because she was still “taking it all in”.
“Holy bloody hell. You guys, I cannot believe it! This is a moment I will NEVER FORGET!!!! [sic],” Billie said.
It certainly wasn’t a clean-cut win, but Billie made it out on top.
In the finale’s first round, Billie’s panna cotta wasn’t set properly, which put her behind Sarah by five points.
But in the final Pressure Test, Billie presented a Heston Blumenthal classic (a nod to her win in season seven), which absolutely wowed judges Melissa Leong, Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen.
The two-time champ made up for the points she lost and just won by the skin of her teeth, with a final score of 58, versus Sarah’s 56. That’s a close call!
“I felt like there was really no way in hell I would make those points back,” Billie told 10Play.
“I knew it was possible, but I knew it was going to be a massive hill to climb and I just had to make sure to do everything perfectly.”

During Billie’s 2022 MasterChef journey, the cook was keen to find out whether her creative spark and love for cooking beautiful dishes was still alight.
Her dishes continued to impress the judges (and us at home), with delicious tasting food, unexpected flavour pairings and a mouth-watering plating style.
Billie’s performance in the 2015 finale impressed Heston Blumenthal so much that she went on to work at his three-Michelin star restaurant, The Fat Duck.
The chef then moved to London before coming home to work on her family’s dairy farm, before welcoming a daughter Ada, with her husband Haydn.
