Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Tayla Winter has roasted Channel Nine for giving her an “unfavourable edit”.

The intruder bride caused a ruckus from day dot, from her seemingly brutal treatment of husband Hugo Armstrong to her reported fling (and subsequent racy FaceTime) with Cam Woods.

Now, the 27-year-old nurse has since called out the brains behind MAFS for leaving its participants traumatised as a result of its editing.

Chatting to The Daily Telegraph, the Tasmanian admitted she didn’t recognise the person she was made out to be onscreen.

“You prepare yourself for an unfavourable edit, however, you still think you’re somewhat in control of how you’re portrayed,” she said.

“Personally, I thought I was going to get a good edit. When context is removed, your audio is cut and pasted to create conversations.”

She added: “Your facial expressions and your reactions are something completely different to what actually happened.”

Giving an example, Tayla said producers often asked them to make expressions like “a frustrated face”. However, the context would be completely different on the show to what it was IRL.

“You could be doing that to say a mouthful of food you disliked, and then it is edited so you’re making that face to a girl walking into a dinner party,” she explained.

Tayla Winter confirms claims that participants were held against their will during Married at First Sight

Bronte Schofield previously claimed producers coerced her into staying on the show amid tension with her husband Harrison Boon.

While some poo-pooed these allegations, Tayla told The Daily Telegraph of a similar experience.

“For the first three days in Sky Suites, I was told I wasn’t allowed to leave the apartment. I felt like I was going crazy,” she confessed.

She recalled calling her mother to complain about the “controlled” filming environment.

“I remember calling my mum and telling her, ‘I can’t leave.’ She said: ‘Tayla you can leave, they can’t physically hold you there’.”

Tayla isn’t the only bride to fall victim to a dodgy edit.

Alyssa Barmonde previously revealed she was fired from her job as a result of her portrayal as Duncan James‘ nagging wife.

Her co-stars have since come to her defence on social media after regaining access to their Instagram accounts.
