After enduring gruelling challenges and harrowing conditions in the South African jungle, Liz Ellis has been crowned the deserving winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2023.
On April 30 the former star netballer walked away from the title of Queen of the Jungle and $100,000 for her chosen charity, Share The Dignity.
“Oh my gosh. Finally, I’m a queen,” the 50-year-old joked as she was announced as the winner.
Over the last few weeks, 14 contestants were whittled down leaving just three celebs, Below Deck’s Aesha Scott, boxer Harry Garside, and Liz, to battle it out for the crown.
But it came down to a nail-biting finale as host Julia Morris revealed the votes between Liz and Harry were “extremely close”.
“My kids never saw me play netball,” Liz said. “I want to show them what Mummy can do. I want to show them I can be strong, face danger and still work through it.
“Everyone got through it. It’s just been so good to get to know everybody.”

Liz was supporting Share the Dignity during her time on the show, a charity that provides “much-needed period products to women who are homeless, fleeing domestic violence or who are living right on the poverty line or struggling to make ends meet.”
“It helps them and their family gets through and allows them to be dignified. And you hear about women and their stories,” Liz said.

Viewers flocked to Twitter in full support of Australia’s decision to vote Liz the winner of I’m A Celebrity.
Many said she was very much “deserving” of the title and were thrilled to see their netball treasure achieve greatness again. Yas Queen!

However, it was also bittersweet.
While fans were riding the high of Liz’s win, they also said farewell to the beloved doctor, Chris Brown who, after nine years at the helm with Julia, left the jungle for the last time.
His exit was announced from Channel Ten back in February. But fans will be able to catch him on rival TV network Seven.
