I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2023 has unveiled its cast for the new season but viewers were less than impressed by the mediocre calibre of so-called ‘A-listers’ entering the jungle.

Among the stars competing for $100,000 in prize money to be donated to their charity of choice are veteran presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Australian Idol judge Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, MAFS star Domenica Calarco, radio host Woody Whitelaw, and celebrity chef Anna Polyviou.

The rest of the I’m A Celebrity cast is rounded out with Aesha Scott from Below Deck, Geordie Shore‘s Nathan Henry, boxer and Olympic medalist Harry Garside and TV presenter Bianca Hunt.

Also joining the cast is champion netballer Liz Ellis, comedian Peter Helliar and Brownlow medalist Adam Cooney.

As this is the first season to be filmed back in the South African bush after a three-year hiatus, fans were expecting more. Beloved hosts Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown have returned to the show though.

They took to Twitter to express their disappointment with the lineup. But honestly, what do you expect when it’s the ninth season and all the top-tier celebs have already had their stint?

There was even some confusion among the celebrities when they met Debra Lawrance, who is best known for her role as Pippa Ross on Home and Away during the 1990s and 2000s.

Fans lay into TV personality Kerri-Ann Kennerley ahead of her debut on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here Australia

Kerri-Ann hasn’t even made her jungle debut, she joins the rest of the cast during Monday’s episode, but that didn’t stop fans from laying into her.

Apparently, Channel Ten’s head of entertainment Stephen Tate has been trying to get Kerri-Ann on the show ever since it premiered nine seasons ago.

She finally said ‘yes’. Albeit with a few tweaks to her contract.

“I get to take makeup,” she dished to News.com.au. “Natural is very overrated.”

Liz Ellis tipped as I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here Australia’s favourite cast member

The much-loved sporting legend is one of the nation’s most successful netballers.

As the first episode premiered, Liz shared a video on her Instagram account to say “sorry” to all the fans she had lied to about her new gig. What a considerate person!

“Please forgive me, please vote for me, and hopefully I’ll be back telling the truth soon,” Liz joked.
