Veteran TV presenter Daryl Somers is making his return to Dancing With The Stars to host the show alongside Sonia Kruger.

In recent years the infallible Sonia has hosted pretty much every show Channel Seven has put out, like The Voice Australia and Big Brother. And the 57-year-old is doing a pretty good job of it.

Recently, Dr Chris Brown was rumoured to be joining Sonia on DWTS.

But according to The Daily Telegraph, the network “felt compelled” to rope in “a relic like Daryl Somers” due to a “miscalculation”.

It was announced in February that the long-time I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! host was jumping ship from Network Ten to Seven.

However, it’s said Seven bosses got Chris’ start date wrong and he can’t co-host DWTS due to his contract.

According to the publication, waiting for the beloved vet to start at Seven on July 1 would throw out the entire production schedule for the 20th season of DWTS.

So instead of leaving the gig in the capable hands of Sonia, Daryl was called in to save the day.

So Dramatic! reached out to Channel Seven and they told us the new season of DWTW goes into production next month. So that means it wasn’t even a possibility for Chris to co-host the show.

Daryl Somers returns to Dancing With The Stars

As a former child ballroom dancer himself, Daryl, 71, is no stranger to DWTS.

Daryl co-hosted the show between 2004 and 2007, and then again in 2021 alongside Sonia.

He is also synonymous with the prime-time variety show, Hey Hey It’s Saturday, which first launched in 1971.

It aired for more than 30 years with Daryl at the helm, and the program’s popularity was unrivalled.

Sonia and Daryl were confirmed as this year’s hosts of DWTS earlier this month.
