The Voice Australia 2022 has been caught up in a cheating scandal of its own after coach Guy Sebastian made a peculiar request.

During the Battle Round, two of Guy’s team members, Jordan Tavita and Celestial Utai went head to head. At the end of the performance, the 40-year-old coach was tasked with choosing which singer would progress to the next stage of the competition.

However, in a moment of indecisiveness, Guy asked producers to let him take both performers to the next round.

Guy Sebastian has been slammed for “cheating” on The Voice Australia.

“I don’t want to bend rules or do anything weird, but if I can just ask [to] maybe put them both through to the sing-off?” he asked host Sonia Kruger. “Only if everyone’s cool with that? I know I should make a decision.”

We don’t know about you, but it sounds exactly like he wants to bend the rules?!

When Sonia said she’d have to take it up with production, Guy joked: “I know people at Seven. I can text them if you don’t have access.”

Eventually, the long-time coach was given the all-clear to save both Jordan and Celestial, much to the dismay of fans.

Fans Call Out The Voice Australia for Allowing Guy Sebastian to “Break the Rules”

Naturally, fans were p*ssed about the move, with one tweeting that it was “not fair to the other singers”.

Another questioned: “Why does Guy think it’s okay to break the rules I feel sorry for the artists cut because the other coaches play by the rules.”

A third claimed they were “done watching The Voice” because “Guy [cheats] every year”.

“If I was Rita [Ora], Jess [Mauboy] and Keith [Urban], I’d walk.”

This Isn’t the First Time Guy Sebastian Has Been Caught Up In The Voice Controversy

In 2021, Guy’s mentee Bella Taylor Smith took out the top gong in The Voice competition.

However, in 2020, he was caught up in another cheating scandal after his brother, Chris Sebastian, won the series.

The victory triggered backlash among viewers, with fans causing ‘#rigged’ to trend on Twitter.

“Controversy is just part of being on television,” Chris said at the time. “I knew it was going to be a thing on this show, but I don’t care.

“It’s a voted show, it’s audited, it couldn’t be more above board. More people voted for me than are slamming me, so I’m going to focus on those people.”
