Abbie Chatfield has admitted on national radio she’s been “dumped again” after her fill-in Hot Nights co-host Nic Kelly quit – the THIRD staffer to leave the show in recent weeks.

Before her original co-host, Rohan Edwards resigned abruptly on April 17, The Bachelor alum turned media personality‘s executive producer Max Corstorphan stepped down in the weeks prior.

Regular listeners would have noticed Nic filling in before Easter, but Abbie has revealed the DJ decided not to stick with the show.

“Nic couldn’t do the long distance anymore, I miss him it’s so hard being away from you,” the 27-year-old said on April 18.

“Look, I’ve been dumped again!

No doubt Nic’s absence has executives scrambling behind the scenes at Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit Network.

At the eleventh hour, they roped in Jimmy Smith and Nath Roye of The Jimmy & Nath Show

“As a positive, Jimmy and Nath were walking around the office and I said boys ‘Will you come in the studio and do the show with me because I don’t know how to press a button’,” Abbie joked.

Why did Nic Kelly quit Abbie Chatfield’s Hot Nights?

The circumstances around Nic’s departure are a little unclear. Much like who will sit in the plagued co-host’s chair.

So Dramatic! heard rumours Nic put in his resignation at SCA. However, it seems he was offered the role, and decided not to take it after Rohan Edwards resigned after six years “to pursue other interests”.

This begs the question, who will be Abbie’s permanent co-host?

Jimmy and Nath seem like an unlikely choice purely due to logistics. The pair host their own show from 9-11 pm after Hot Nights airs so, they’re basically pulling a double shift and that’s just not sustainable in the long run.
