Media personality Abbie Chatfield has been announced as the host of online streaming service Binge’s first original reality dating series, FBOY Island Australia.

The Bachie alum announced her new role on December 15 – right in the middle of the ongoing Brittany Hockley drama – adding yet another notch to her lengthy hosting resume.

“I am so excited to be hosting FBOY Island in 2023,” Abbie said of her new gig.

“I can’t wait to work on a dating show that encourages women to work together and support each other in the pursuit of finding love, and separating those charming Fboys from the lovely nice guys.”

The Aussie version of FBoy Island has the same creators as The Bachelor franchise… So, it’s no surprise that Abbie was a top contender for the new hosting spot.

“Abbie is a bright talent who is making waves in the media and entertainment industry with her electric personality and unfiltered opinions and will be a great addition to the show,” said Binge executive director Alison Hurbert-Burns.

What is FBoy Island Australia?

So Dramatic! Daily podcast

FBoy Island Australia is set to start airing on Binge in 2023. It follows three Aussie women on “their quest to find love” (jeez, where have we heard that one before).

If it’s anything like the US version, the three women will be introduced to 24 men after arriving on the titular FBoy Island:

They will “navigate the world of dating as they attempt to uncover who are the self-proclaimed ‘nice guys; looking for love, and who are the self-proclaimed ‘F-Boys’ only there to play the game and win the cash prize”.

Not even the viewers know who F-boys are (but we’re pretty sure we’ll notice the red flags fairly early on).

Well, that’s what the producers are planning, at least. Despite the exciting host announcement, FBoy Island is only in the early stages of casting.

In fact, the casting call for both the three female leads and their 24 potential male suitors only recently went live.

They have separate male and female applications. The latter calls for “empowered, confident, beautiful, and charismatic women who have it all, besides love”.

Meanwhile, the male casting call is looking for men who are “unapologetic”, have a “big personality” and will be “ready to use [their] charm and good looks to win love or money”.
