Abbie Chatfield‘s clothing label Verbose has come under fire online after many customers reported they are still waiting on orders placed months ago.

With a cult following coming off the back of several highly successful reality TV stints, it was no shock that fans quickly saved their pretty pennies to spend on the 27-year-old‘s fashion line, which launched in May 2022.

With an ethos of “fashion is inclusion”, Verbose’s major drawcard was their inclusive offering of sizes from six to 26.

However, the thread has recently come undone, with many angered fans taking to the label’s Instagram account to voice their disappointment over Verbose’s operations.

On its most recent post — which was shared over a month ago on March 6 — countless comments detailed missing orders and refund requests from over five months.

“Can someone please respond to my DM regarding a missing order from November?” one asked.

“Hi @verbosethelabel can someone please respond to my emails or DM regarding my missing order from three months ago?” another requested.

The comments continued.

“My order is still missing from November can you reply to my emails or DMs.”

“Still haven’t received mine and now it’s on sale for half the amount I paid.”

In similar responses to all their concerned customers, Verbose said they had privately responded to their messages, with Abbie “personally” reaching out to some users.

While one later noted on the same post that they had since received their order, it’s unclear whether others had the same outcome.

Abbie Chatfield’s fan voice concerns over ‘performative’ brand

Another fan called Abbie and her label out with a lengthy comment on the March 6 post.

“You can not keep ignoring comments and trying to sweep this under the rug,” they wrote. “I have purchased from you EVERY SINGLE DROP because of your brand’s PROMISE, ‘We have (and always will) shot all our items on 6 different models ranging from size 6 to 26’.

“When now you have only shown the clothes on a size 6 model.”

Noting that customers have spent “hard-earned money” on Verbose, the user said people “deserve to know why [they] are not keeping [their] promising and honouring [your] brand”.

They concluded in another comment: “Seems like you were just being performative and don’t actually care about us big gals.”

The same user comments some weeks later, voicing the same concerns. However, another follower backed Verbose.

“The website clearly shows clothing items on different sized models,” they penned. “I was able to look at [size] 24+26 just now so I’m unsure what you’re on about?”

In what could serve as an explanation for a lack of diversity, Abbie commented elsewhere that she was unable to “do a full shoot yet”.

“We got the samples yesterday so haven’t had time to do a full shoot yet,” she wrote. “Once we have images with our usual models and size ranges, they will be on socials/website.

“We just do not have the actual products yet in all sizes.”

Is clothing label Verbose no more?

With the lack of clarity over orders and the Verbose account’s social media inactivity, fans wonder whether the label will continue operating.

One user slid into our DMs to note that Abbie’s sister Jolie‘s LinkedIn profile (which details her role as Verbose’s Senior Designer) describes her job in “past tense”.

Of course, we did a lil’ snoop, which reveals Jolie “was responsible” for designer duties, hinting that she’s no longer in the role.

However, it says she is presently involved with the business.

The fan also noted that many items on the website are listed as “final sale”, suggesting that “perhaps they are closing”.
