FBOY Island Australia host Abbie Chatfield has defended Skye Wheatley over claims her I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2024 win was rigged.
ICYMI: Insiders told Daily Mail Australia that Skye won the hit reality series because she’d made a secret deal with production. However, Skye denied these claims, telling Yahoo! Lifestyle she’d have done the show “for free”.
Abbie, who won the show in 2021, took to Instagram to slam the media outlet for spreading false rumours about Skye, claiming society was quick to shut down successful women.
“Funny how every time a woman with a large social media platform wins I’m a Celebrity, people claim that it’s rigged,” the Bachelor breakout star wrote to her Story.
She then explained that the show was a “popularity contest by definition”, with social media coverage playing a big role in determining the winner.
The 28-year-old added: “When I won, I got trolled SO HARD. Maybe vote more if you didn’t want me [or] Skye to win? But when a middle-aged man wins, nobody bats an eyelid?” Hear, hear!
Skye wasn’t the only 2024 star rumoured to have a secret deal with production. Brittany Hockley, Frankie Muniz and Denise Drysdale were also rumoured to have special contracts.
