Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Bronte Schofield has revealed she’s spent most of her teenage years in hospital due to health complications.
The beauty educator told 9Entertainment that she believed she was going to die at the age of 16 due to “crippling pain”.
The 28-year-old was diagnosed with “pancreatitis, endometriosis and gastritis all at the same time,” which caused her to “rip the sheets apart” from agony.
Her health took a toll on her self-esteem, as it was difficult to fit in with her peers after missing so much school.
“I was in the hospital for so long, and it took a massive toll on my self-esteem and confidence but I never changed who I am,” she shared.
Bronte also admitted that she got “very bullied in school” as girls would make fun of her illness.

Bronte’s health complications also caused her to miss filming on several occasions, including the February 26 Commitment Ceremony.
Her on-screen hubby Harrison Boon used her absence to his advantage, taking the time to (fake) cry about her illness.
This performance comes after the 32-year-old accused Bronte of using her Endometriosis as an excuse for “being a bitch“. Yikes!
One source revealed to So Dramatic! that Harrison couldn’t “cope” with Bronte’s PMDD symptoms, which include “mood swings, severe irritability, depression and/or anxiety in the week or two before your period starts”.
“Bronte’s Endo and PMDD got quite heightened throughout the show. She was in a lot of pain and crying a lot from it,” one insider said.
However, during an argument, Harrison claimed that she was using the fact that she is “a woman” to her advantage.
