The Bachelors Australia 2023 contestant Jessica Navin has left fans questioning whether anybody on the show actually knows what polyamory really means.

People in polyamorous or ethical non-monogamous relationships are often met with a lot of bias due to misunderstandings and a lack of public awareness.

So Bachie fans were thrilled to hear that the 2023 season would educate the general public about what being polyamorous and in a healthy open relationship really means. Except, it totally hasn’t…

Polyamory is a form of ethical non-monogamy, which centres around having committed relationships (typically, but not exclusively romantic) between two or more people, according to Psych Central.

The Bachelors Australia 2023 fans on Twitter are frustrated about Jessica Navin spreading misinformation

Viewers quickly noticed red flags that Jessica had been using polyamory as an excuse to shop around for a different monogamous boyfriend while keeping her current partner Damien as a “backup”.

“That’s the thing. I don’t want two partners at the end of this,” Jessica said in the January 17 episode.

The Bachelors Australia 2023 fans question the ethics behind Jessica Navin’s definition of polyamory

Both Felix Von Hofe and Damien have voiced that they don’t want to be in an open relationship and have never expressed enthusiastic consent to the situation.

Fans were torn between utter confusion and frustration, with some concerned that Jessica’s misinformation would further fuel prejudice against ethical non-monogamy.
