The Challenge Australia 2022 contestant Brooke Jowett has opened up about the outbreak of cold sores on the set of the reality series.
ICYMI: So Dramatic! reported on December 6 that the pesky outbreak plagued the cast during filming, and prevented them from hooking up with other contestants.
A “cold sore” is a colloquial name for an oral herpes infection, where the herpes simplex virus is located around the border of the lips, according to the medical industry body, The Mayo Clinic.
While So Dramatic! spoke to one cast member who exclusively spilled the beans, fellow contestant Brooke has now also dished the deets on the rumour and confirmed it to be in fact true.
“From what I know four people got cold sores during filming,” the former Australian Survivor contestant explained to Pedestrian TV. “I was blessed with one right under my nose for weeks. Love that for me.”
She added: “I’m happily taken so it didn’t affect me but I do know that someone used it as an excuse to shut down an unwanted drunken kiss.”
Well, that’s one way to get out of a bad sitch!
The Challenge Australia 2022 contestant reveals there was a cold sore outbreak among the cast
As reported on episode 235 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one contestant dished that many of the reality stars were forced to keep it in their pants while filming The Challenge due to the outbreak of the cold sores.
“There actually weren’t that many hookups among the cast, apart from Megan [Marx] and Konrad [Bien-Stephen], because everyone had cold sores,” the insider said.
They continued: “Everyone just broke out in them during filming, so there was no hooking up. Strangely enough, Megan and Konrad didn’t get cold sores but everyone else did.” Wow, go figure!
Cold sores are often spread through oral or genital contact, but (apparently) these sprung up from “stress”.
“They weren’t spread, they must have just been from stress and weirdly, everyone got them except the people hooking up,” the contestant claimed.
