Filming for the new season of Australian Survivor is in full swing as the next series pits a bunch of heroes and villains against each other.

Yup, that’s right! As previously reported by So Dramatic!, the next season of the hit survival series will be dubbed Heroes v Villains, and will see several previous contenders go up against a slate of new faces — well, at least new to the Survivor shores!

Long-time host Jonathan LaPaglia took to Instagram on September 19 to reveal that filming is well underway, musing that “play time is over”.

“Back in the office making the next season of #SurvivorAU,” he penned alongside a photo of himself on set.

“It’s shaping up to be a ripper!”

And TBH, we expect nothing less with the yuge names that have signed on to the eighth season of Australian Survivor.

In episode 206 of the So Dramatic! podcast, host Megan Pustetto revealed that AFL legend David Zaharakis has traded in his jersey for a Survivor buff, with filming having started in early August.

Now, seeing as the show typically runs for eight weeks, we can only guess that the camera is not only rolling on the current season, but it’s also nearing its end.

Who Else Is Competing On Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains?

Alongside David, So Dramatic! also unveiled The Real Housewives of Melbourne star Anjali Rao as a contestant.

According to one source, the 49-year-old was a “last minute” addition to the cast and was only given “five weeks’ notice” prior to filming that she’d appear.

The insider dished that production was “set on casting a villainous and ruthless entertainment reporter” after Sydney Morning Herald journo Andrew Hornery was blasted for trying to “out” actress Rebel Wilson.

As for the returnee stars, 2016 winner Kristie Bennett, hunky 2019 hopeful Shaun Hampson, as well as 2022 import Nina Twine and her co-star, Jordie Hansen are also competing.

In addition, 2021 icon George Mladenov and two-time star Shonee Fairfax (2018/2020) will also appear.

It is currently unknown whether the new season will air in late 2022 or 2023.
